| J i an asna nr ga Cr -- re 4 Les Parkes donates pictures to museum as a parting gift The Scugog Shores Mu- seum has always had a special place in the heart of Les Parkes. And last week, the re- nowned Port Perry artist pre- sented the Museum with three beautiful pen and ink drawings. The drawings all depict scenes from the popular mu- seum on Scugog Island. One is of an old wagon, an- other shows the Thompson fam- ily monument in the Head Ce- metery on the Museum grounds, and the other is a de- tail of the window in the Mu- seum log cabin. The Museum already has five original water colours by Mr. Parkes on display, and cu- rator Mary Lynne Williamson said the pen and ink drawings will be hung in the Museum of- fices. They were painted in 1984 when Mr. Parkes was spending a lot of time on the Museum grounds sketching. "The grounds," he said, "are a natural place to sketch, very peaceful, and nobody ever bothered me." The presentation of the drawings last week was some- - thing of a "going away" gift from Mr. Parkes. He and his wife Zona have sold their Port Perry home, and Correction An article in last weeks Port Perry Star entitled "Rockin' good time at Arena" stated that proceeds from the event would go to the hospital.
