4 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 14, 1990 New features will promote business, recognize children The Port Perry Star is pleased to introduce two new ad- vertising features to its pages, which will be available in fu- ture issues. The first, entitled "Profile On Business," is an advertis- ing feature which will give local businesses an opportunity to inform the public about their business through a combination of display advertising and news/photo feature. This new feature will be available to either existing or new businesses in the community. Anyone wishing to take advantage of this style of advertising feature is asked to call the advertising department of the Star for more information. A second feature, aimed at young children will be our "Child's Birthday" feature. Children aged one to three years may be featured in a two column by six inch display along with information pertaining to the child's special day. A good photo of the child along with specific details must be submitted to the Star and for a nomi- nal fee your child's special birthday will be recognized. Call the Star office for more details. In addition to these features, in future issues of the Star, there will be a $20. charge for publication of photographs and write-ups of graduating students. Port Perry Fair to feature Junior Gymkhanna show This year at the Port Perry fair, there is going to be a Junior Show and Gymkhanna show for Juniors. A junior is anyone 18 and under as of Jan. 1990. This show will take place on Saturday, September 1 at 9:30 a.m. A few classes to enter are Leadline, Leadline Walk Trot, English Equitation and Hunter Hack. In the gymkhanna there is a Costume Class, Sack Race, Musical Tires. Sunday, Sept. 2 at 9:30 is an Open Western/Hunter Show. This is open to all ages. Classes include a Western Pleasure, Western . Riding and Hunter Hack. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Gate passes are issued with pre-registration. Anyone registering the day of the fair will be required to pay admit- tance at the gate, with no refund. Monday, Sept. 3 will feature a FESTIVAL OF SOUND 1990 Heavy Horse Show. There are categories for Clydesdale, Per- cheron, Belgian and Wagon Horses. Prize money is 1st - $55; 2nd - $50; 3rd - $45; 4th - $35; & 5th - $30. The Light Horse and Pony Show will be on Saturday, Sept. 1. There are classes for Roadsters, Hackney Horses & Ponies and Long Tail Ponies. New at the fair this year will be Chariot Races. The races will take place on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 on the race track. A total of eight heats will take place with pony chariots, pony chuck wagons, and Ben Hur chariots. This is going to be an exciting event.
