Mrs. Dorothy Naples of 205 Rosa Street had a first place, a second and three thirds. 10 YEARS AGO Wednesday, August 27, 1980 The beautification of downtown Port Perry got underway last week with the planting of four maple trees on Queen Street. A young Prince Albert boy, fourteen year old Marc Tapper has spent most of the summer in Toronto, rehearsing and starr- ing in the production of The Little Prince. Marc plays the lead. role in Skylight Theatre's production, portraying a little boy from a small planet who leaves his home. About 2,000 antique buyers and auction buffs gathered on the Cochrane Street property of William Carnegie to participate in and witness the nearly eight hour long auction sale, Thurs- day, August 21. Ken Irvine has turned out to be the money pitcher of the Port Perry Canadian Tire Men's pitching staff. After a season of moderate success, Irvine has won four straight starts in post- season competition. On Tuesday, August 19 while golfing with the Summerlea Ladies Golf League, Judy Reader, a first year golfer, shot a hole in one of 150 yards on the second hole. At the request of Golden Griddle staff, a few Port Perry men travelled to the CNE last week to volunteer their time cooking pancakes and waffles for patrons to their booth at the CNE Food Building. Golden Griddle and its sponsors will be giving 100% of all revenue to the camp to help the kids. Golden Griddle is owned by Scugog Township residents Harold and Stella MacDonnell.
