Bring a friend and come out and enjoy the evening. Bill and Bernice Gardner, Don- na and Ivan attended the Timms - Hale wedding in Ajax last Saturday. Muriel Lynde recently under- went knee surgery and will be spending a few weeks in Whitby General Hospital recuperating. Bill Davis is presently a patient in Oshawa General Hospital. I am sure Bill would be happy to receive a card from his many friends. Frank and Margaret Mitchell from Deep River enjoyed a few days visit with Muriel Fisher, and also attended the Ploughing Match. Last Saturdays' talent auction was a huge success, with Ken Congregation treated to '"Edelweiss" Hope everyone enjoyed the past weekend. Sure felt like winter was on its way!! Oh well, still a ~ chance the weather will warm up for an Indian Summer!! Speaking of winter, lets hear some of those sports scores from local kids for the Seagrave News this winter. I know lots of kids "play, hockey & ringette!! Solet's put your wins & losses in the news!! Just give us a call. Seagrave Church News Sunday was the 84th anniver- sary of the Seagrave United Church. Rev. Jack Griffen of the Columbus Church was our guest speaker and spoke on the 'Church in time of Revolution." The Seagrave Choir, during the Seagrave Choir Anthem, were joined by Burt Hutcheon who sang a solo part. Everyone was treated to an in- credible rendition of "Edelweiss" and "How Great Thou Art" by: Ivan Barrett, daughter Linda Jacula, grandson Michael Jacula, playing in order on the piano, organ and electric keyboard. Last Sunday, Dr. Ed McKinlay occupied Burns pulpit. The choir rendered "Sweet Hour of Prayer." There will be no regular morning worship or church school next Sunday at Burns. Sacrament of Holy Cummunion will be celebrated on Thanksgiving Sunday. Burns Anniversary will be on Sunday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.. Guest speaker for both services were be Rev. Harry Waite from St. Andrews' Chalmers, Uxbridge. Mrs. Bill Reid will be the soloist in the mor- ning, with St. Andrew's Chalmes choir in the evening. Have a good week! ' Hospital Ladies Auxiliary The Port Perry Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary held the first of their fall meetings on Monday, Sept. 17th 1990. The President Margaret McConnell welcomed all, & hoped we were all ready for a busyyear of ac- tivities. She then opened the meeting with all repeating the Auxiliary Prayer. She then asked for the Secretaries report which was read by Vera Hunt in the absence of Gwen Thompson. All other officer's reports were then given. : Mr. Brown was with us and welcomed all back, and wished us well in this coming year. He then told us of some of the things which the hospital could use. Under new business the Presi- dent told us of the many activities that we have coming up, the first of which is a Euchre & Bridge and Bake Sale, being held at the Masonic Hall, on October 22 at 1 p.m.. The Bake Sale will follow at 3 p.m.. So ladies, we will hope for lots of home baking coming in for this sale. The Port Perry Auxiliary "Thank" the morning unit of the Blackstock U.C.W. for the lovely Baby Layette, sent in by them. The Auxiliary also says "Thank You" for all the lovely knitting brought in. Some good ideas for Christmas gifts, ladies. The meeting then closed, and do not forget our next meeting is Oc- tober 22, at the hospital, so cheerio, and hope to see you all out at that meeting.
