The early morning raid was carried out by officers of the combined RCMP-Durham Po- lice Drug Unit. RCMP Sgt. Jim Neilly said two pounds of marijuana and 1.6 ounces of cocaine were seized, with a street value of about $15,000. Also confiscated was a set of scales and a list of names. Charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of traf- ficking are James Ira Aldred, 27; Lynda Marie Aldred, 33; and Gordon M. Wray, 35. Wray and James Aldred were also charged with posses- sion of marijuana and cocaine, and Aldred has been charged with breach of recognizance. Wray and Lynda Aldred were released on bond last Thursday. James Aldred was denied "bail and remains in custody in Whitby. An initial court date for the three has been set for Septem- ber 28. The raid was carried out at a home on Concession 9, Scugog Island. Durham College has highest enrolment Durham College has experienc- ed its greatest enrolment level in its 23 year history. This fall 2,836 students registered for post-secondary pro- grams in Applied Arts, Business, Health Sciences and Technology as compared to an enrolment of 2701 students in 1989. This number represents a 5 percent increase over last year and a 9 percent in- crease over the past two years. Business is booming with 1043 full time students, Applied arts with 937, Health Sciences with 441, and Technology with 415.
