The S. A. Cawker Public School boys volleyball team won the Pringmenton boys invita- tional volleyball meet held at G. L. Roberts recently. Twenty-four teams participated in the meet. Bantam 1's squeak by Uxbridge On Friday, October 26, the Port Perry Bantams #1 team travelled to Uxbridge to take on their all time rivals. This match-up proved to be a truly offensive game with very lit- tle defense played by either teams. The Goreski Insulators, sponsored by Ken and Dianne Goreski, were second to tally with Uxbridge getting the first one. Port fought back and scored three unanswered goals to end the first period. Scoring first for Port was Joey Broadworth with assists to Dave Bourgeois. This goal came at the 5:38 mark. Scoring the second goal was Jeff Card as he found an opening. Assisting the goal was Gavin Cochrane. Scoring the third and final goal of the period was Duane Empr- ingham on a nice 5 hole shot. Assisting on the goal were linemates Jeff Card and David Pashley. Uxbridge, in the second period, wasted no time in tying things up, as they scored two goals in 8 seconds. The first at 14:52 and the second at 14:44. Port tought back on a nice goal by Sean McEnaney at the 9:56 mark with assists going to Pete King and Scott Wylie. Uxbridge scored the next one to tie things up again. This goal came at the 9:29 mark. Port thought this was ridiculous so they ordered "Tur- tle Power' and scored 3 more goals in the second and one in the third. Scoring the first one was Sean Ellis with the assist going to a ) When business is good, it pays to advertise ... When business is bad, you've got to advertise! \_ y linemate Joey Broadworth. This goal was scored at the 7:20 mark. Scoring the second of three in this period was Dave Pashely with assists going to linemates Jeff Card and Duane Empr- ingham. This goal came at the 6:16 mark. The third goal was scored by Ellis, his second of the night, with the assist going to linemate Broadworth. This goal was scored at the 1:19 mark of the second frame. Port scored the first in the third, thus giving them a coman- ding lead. Scoring the goal was Pashley from Card and Empringham. Port held the lead throughout the period, but at the two minute mark something happened to the defense. Uxbridge scored three unanswered goals in that two minutes to play. The last goal was scored with only 5 seconds left in the game. The final score - Port Perry 8, Uxbridge 7. Port's next home game is Mon- day, November 5, against a tough team from Cobourg. Fit- zgerald's Weed Control bashed the Van & Truck World "Pum- pkins"' by a score of 6-1. Smashing away for Fit- zgerald's were Bill Bridge 3 goals 1 assist, Gary Lance 2 goals, 1 assist, and Carl Fitzgerald 1 goal. Assists to Reg Templeman, Bart Wager and Wayne Norton. The lone marker for V & T World was John Robertson from Richie Lefort and Wayne Fox., Game two was a tight checking as well as goaltending battle that saw Anderson's Chev Olds edge out Sportsland 2-1. Scoring for Anderson's was John Kotarba from Mike Driscoll and Lee Steeves and Ron Jeffrey from Tom Patton. The lone marker for Sportsland was Mike McQuade from Mark Jobb. The third game was another close checking affair in which Compton squeezed past Norton's OHA JR. 'C' HOCKEY SCUGOG ARENA - PORT PERRY" 7:30 PM - NOVEMBER 4th, 1990 tallying for Compton were Terry Rose 1 goal, 1 assist, Rick Hope and Jim Duncan 1 goal apiece. Other assists to Bob Tar- botton, Todd Wilbur, Larry Page, Bruce Smith and Larry Pilkey all with singles. Fighting back for Norton's were Doug Suppelsa from Marvin Stevenson and Darcy Milligan from Doug Suppelsa. Game four was yet again another tight see-saw battle that saw J & D Carpentry come from a 3-1 deficit to win 4-3 over Crandell's. Scorers for J & D were Fred Moffatt 2 goals, Jason Warner 1 goal, 1 assist and Rob Evans 1 goal. Helping out were Joe Curran 2 assists Dave Sandison 2 assists, Richard Sakanashi and Dave Mann each with one. Dan Horner scored all 3 goals for Crandell's with assists going to Ray Gibson, Bob Lee, Brian Burns and Ray Zaparaniuk.
