Pineridge Sports Atom 2 update This past week Pineridge Sports Atom #2 has seen plenty of action playing three games. For the first game (22nd) the team travelled to Orono. Taking an early lead, Pineridge went ahead in the first period 2-0 on goals by Scott Sanderson and Danny Lyons, assists to Ryan Moynes, lan Parliament and Kevin Cochrane Orono came back in the second period of play to tie it up, but before the period had ended Port had gained the lead once again on a nice little goal from Ian Parliament assisted by Scott Sanderson. Pineridge dominated the play during the third period and add- ed two more goals by Danny Lyons and Justin Halligan, assists to Jamie Strickert, Scott Jeffrey and Scott Sanderson, Orono managed one more, late in the game, for a final score of 5-3. For Friday's game they were host to Millbrook and as the first period of play began Millbrook came on strong scoring three goals in the first four minutes. Un- daunted, Port never let up and fought hard to get a goal late in the second by Scott Sanderson on a good pass from Colin Laird. Despite a final score of 3-1, our defencemen Scott Harper, Ryan Moynes, Wyatt Park and Colin Laird worked exceptionally hard to keep the big guys from Millbrook out of our end. Our sole netminder for the game was Jon Chambers who did a good job stopping those hard shots. Travelling to Lindsay on Sun- day for the first game against this team, it was end to end action the entire game. Lindsay jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period. Fighting back, Port tied it up in the second on a goal by Adam Hobbs, assists to Scott Sanderson and Ryan Moynes. Lindsay then went ahead, but undeterred, Port gained the lead by scoring two goals in the third period by Kevin Cochrane and Ian Parliament. Assisting on Kevin's goal was Ian and Adam Hobbs with Kevin assisted on Ian's boal. Lindsay's diligent work finally paid off when they tied it up with only 14 second to go. Final score 3-3. The playes and parents are all relieved that Justin Halligan, who was injured early in the game, has been given a clean bill of health.
