Here we are close to Hallowe'en, usually the children's fun day and night, when the adults also get excited with mak- ing interesting costumes. But the adults can often have their celebrations as described in the following paragraphs: David and Theresa Wood held their first Annual Halloween Howl on Saturday evening. Andy French and his group (B & A, D. J.s) supplied the music for the Bill and Melba Owen of Port Perry celebrated thelr 60th wedding anniversary on September 27. A family dinner was held to mark this speclai occasion for the well known resl- dents of the community. Crime Stoppers Crime Stoppers has now been in operation in the Region of Durham for four years and has been very successful but the public are still reluctant to call as they are unsure of how the Pro- gram works. Crime Stoppers will take infor- mation on any criminal offence. Your call will be treated con- fidentially. A code number will be given to each caller for further contact. This means you never have to give your name, just refer to your number. If the information leads to an arrest you will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. This again is just between Crime Stoppers and you. Police don't pay the money out, Crime Stoppers does. The system for picking up the cash will be ex- plained over the phone to those who qualify, upon approval from the civilian board. As soon at the arrest is made, you are eligible for the cash reward. If you are in doubt about calling us with information, please don't hesitate. Sometimes information which you may think is insignifi- cant and not worthy of reporting may be the final part of the puz- zle. Only the police can tell. If in doubt, call us. The Durham Regional Crime' Stoppers hotline 436-8477, is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The phone number can be dialed from most areas in the Region, free of charge, however if you find that it is long distance you can call collect or call through your local Durham Regional Police number and ask for Crime Stoppers. Upon entering the Hunchback (host) and a very Sexy Witch (hostess) greeted you in dense fog with Blood and Slime punches. After passing through a maze of colour you were requested to pay your last respects or perhaps have your picture taken in a very realistic coffin. There was lots of dancing, good food and good times. For years Scugog Island really got on the map with stories and advertising about the famous ghost that could be seen on a dark Island Rd.. Hundreds of people visited the area and tried to solve the problem. But finally on W5, Sunday evening T.V. shattered our beliefs and puzzle when they showed the streets of Port Perry and interviewed several residents and ended up with car lights on a distant road. The Murray House ghost was not quite so easy to prove but not so famous ejther. So now, what?
