ET I ION 12 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 6, 1990 Search continues for clues into mystery of two missing girls | The search for Elizabeth Bain and Julie Stanton moved into Scugog Township over the weekend as nearly 90 volun- teers combed dozens of square miles of rural countryside around Port Perry. They were looking for any- thing that might provide some answers to the disappearance of 23- year old Bain and 14-year old Stanton. Bain was last seen June 19 at Scarborough College Cam- pus and Stanton disappeared April 16 after getting into a car near her home in Pickering. Dave Madder of Toronto, has been co-ordinating the vol- unteer search that covered are- as south, east and west of Port Perry on Saturday and Sunday. He said one of the main items the searchers are looking for is a catalytic converter, be- lieved to be from the car Julie Stanton gotinto on April 16. The search teams found several items over the weekend, but none believed to connected to the disappearance of Stanton or Bain. They included some arti- cles of ladies clothing in the Purple Hill area. Also at Purple Woods, sev- eral torn bank money bags were discovered, and turned over the police. Ablue bomber jacket, a dirt bike and a new 10-speed bicy- cle, and some old bones (likely animal) were also discovered. Local volunteer Harold Forder, helped search teams southeast of Port Perry. Madder told the Star that the search group greatly appre- ciates the efforts of people like Mr. Forder because of their knowledge of the local area. And he expressed thanks to all people from the area who as- Please recycle this newspaper Music by: RICHARD RODGERS TOWN HALL 1873, Queen & Lilla Sts., FRIDAY, sisted searchers over the week- end.
