An excellent crowd attended the Commencement Exercises of the Cartwright High School at the C.C.P.S. Saturday evening, November 3. Following the processional to the stirring music of the Cart- wright High School Band directed by Mr.J. Beirness and the singing of O Canada, Principal Peter Fawcett gave his remarks. Presi- dent of Student Council Jennifer Fletcher brought greetings from her council and introduced its members. Greetings from the Board of Education were brought by Trustee Joyce Kelly. Mr. Gor- don Mills M.P.P. presented the Ontario Scholarships to Kris Bayley and Vicky Newsome. Vicky Newsome received the Governor General Award in recognition of the Highest Academic Achievement. Port Perry I.G.A. Bursary was presented to Vicky Newsome. Medical Associates of Port Perry Bursary was presented to Kris Bayley. Bryan Green received the W.G. Bowles Memorial Award. Eric Douma was presented with the Pineridge Sports Award. The Kinsmen Club of Port Perry Bur- sary was presented to Rob Keast. Pine Ridge Packers Bursary was presented to Chris McConnell. Pizza Delight Bursary was presented to Tim Kyte. Jennifer MacGregor won the Rotary Club of Port Perry Bursary. Smith and Smith Big V Drug Store Bursary was presented to Eric Douma. Vicky Newsome was presented with the Ont. Secondary School Teachers' Fed. Award while Excellent turn-out for CHS commen Danielle Millson and Vicky Newsome received the United Auto Workers Bursary. Following the customary thank ynus, and the recessional, Social time and Reception was held at the Cartwright High School. Many families attended the commencement exercise at the Port Perry High School on Friday evening. Congratulations to the many graduates. An excellent turnout attended the information meeting on Satur- day afternoon dealing with biodegradable products for use in the home.
