i Xi Cae Dr. Bob McClure speaker at Church anniversary by Helen McKean On Sunday, November 18, 1990 the Greenbank Charge of the United Church celebrated the Church's 94th Anniversary. Our guest speaker - Dr. Bob McClure thrilled the crowded church. He spoke on 'Looking Ahead -- Up- date on Word Outreach." He reminded us of our heritage in our church and in our world today. "If we can adapt in these times, you are still living! ! We have to adapt to a changing world. He told us there is no "Far East or Far North" today, in this shrinking world. At one time going to China it took 6 weeks journey - now we are not more than 22 hours by phone from anywhere in this shrinking world. A world full of troubled spots and threats of death to the refugees. He also declared "There is no silver lin- ing anymore." Too, hope keeps our world alive today. Hope is the answer with the Christian Message. Health problems, with literacy - hunger and education is the answer to hope. We must begin with the young people to teach the adults. God's mercy is shown through the young. He told us we must work for change - In our local church and the far east to show them God is a God of love!! This we must share with "the world." The three choirs - junior, in- termediate and senior, thrilled us with their beautiful anthems of praise. Rev. David Shepherd ex- pressed our thanks to them. He thanked Dr. McClure and we join- ed him in wishing good health to Dr. McClure and his wife Amy who visited with the congregation PORT PERRY MERCHANTS want to help soften the impact of the coming GST, so are offering GST COUPONS valued at 10% of all your purchases between October 22 and December 31, 1990.
