Absent from the photo Is Chad Kearns Juniors romp to 10-1 win Wednesday, November 14 the Mariposa Juniors welcomed Port Perry to Oakwood. Although the Port team got off to a slow start they quickly pulled themselves together to go on to dominate the play. Excellent defensive action kept Mariposa's shots on net down to a bare minimum. The girls on red stick repeatedly frustrated the Mariposa offence. Penalty killing was very effective as Port Perry held on to their ring control even while occupying the penalty box. Port's offensive lines controlled the ring well and a great number of well executed passes resulted in a total of shots on goal of ap- proximately forty throughout the two periods. The opening goal of the game was scored by Karen Kett with assists going to Denna Lovering and Michelle Fitzpatrick. Within the next ninety seconds Denna Lovering went on to score a goal of her own assisted by Val Payne. For Port's third marker Karen Kett made a nice pass to assist Denna Lovering to end the first period with Port Perry Juniors leading 3-0. With the opening of the second period Port Perry went on a scor- ing rampage. JoAnn Zaal opened the scoring on a solo effort, follow- ed closely by a goal by Meagan Marlowe. Assists on Meagan's goal went to Shannon Fox and Kim Poppleton. Denna Lovering then assisted Val Payne on a very nice effort. At the 4:48 mark Megan Marlowe again took con- trol of the ring to score her second goal unassisted. Following close- ly on her heals, after many foiled shots and a few bounces off the post, Dawn Doucette popped the ring past the the Mariposa goalie. Lindsay Dutkewich, who had been in high gear throughout the game, was credited with the assist. Denna Lovering and Karen Kett then joined forces to put together a passing play which enabled Michelle Fitzpatrick to score another point for Port Perry. The end of Port Perry's scoring streak came at 1:49 of the final period when Dawn Doucette FORDER-PARKS INSURANCE BROKERS INC. 34 Water St., Port Perry, Ont. Up until the 2:11 mark of this period Tracy Pelow had been en- joying a shut-out. As a result of this goal the final score in the game was 10-1 in favour of Port Perry Ivory Forest Juniors. A very strong defensive effort allowed the forward lines to set up many successful plays. The goals scored in this game were the result of an impressive .team effort. Although they played hard and kept trying, their efforts were not rewarded. In the second game they played the host team Little Britain. This game was an evenly matched contest and proved very exciting for parents to watch. Little Britain took the early lead but Pineridge came back with two quick goals from Adam Hobbs. Assisting on Adam's goals were Blayne Kinnunen with two and Justin Halligan. Little Britain then not to be out done, added two goals for a 3-2 lead in the second, but Danny Lyons scored td tie it up late in the second. Assist to Ryan Moynes. Unfortunately Little Britain added to more goals to round the scoring for a 5-3 win. It was a valiant effort from the team, bet- ter luck next time.
