Soiless mix is too light to support a vigorously growing Amaryllis. Fill your pot half full of moistened tropical soil mix. Set the bulb in the centre and spread the roots out over the soil. Fill in around the bulb with more soil mix so the bulb sits with one half to one third of its depth above the soil line. Be sure the soil is tamped down firmly.
