Give up? It's the First Port Perry Sparks, a group of Guiding's newest and youngest members. This fun program is for five ear olds and these girls, or Ls are learning new things in prepatadan to becoming a rownie next year. The Sparks rogram was initiated last year, Dns and this is Port Perry's first group, under the organization and leadership of Bev Dawson, Bunny Rowland, Joan Rudkin and Melissa Dawson. The Sparks' promise is "I promise to share and be a friend." Welcome to the world of Guiding in Port Perry, Sparks! Twenty-five guides of the First Port Perry Company visited the firehall last Wednesday evening to be taught the popular Fire Safe- ty badge. The girls learned about fire [revention and what they should do in an emergency. Firefighter Paul Dick went into detail about how to sound the alarm, the steps to be taken to save lives and the dangers of UXBRIDGE MEMORIAL panic and how to prevent it. Ot course everyone enjoyed Viewing the equipment and trucks anc Paul was a hit with everyone. Thank you, Paul, for your time, interesting talk and demonstra- tions and above all your delight in taking on this challenge of teaching these young ladies all about fire safety. A Tweenie is a little girl who is 'tween not being a brownie and being a brownie. Congratulations is extended to those tweenies of the Third Port Perry Brownies who officially became Brownies at their Enrolment Night last Wednesday afternoon at the Kinsmen Hall. A picture with the names of the girls is in this weeks edition of the Star.
