(see story for details) Petites defeated by Warkworth Warkworth 4 Port Perry 0 On Sunday, November 25, the Port 1.G.A. Petites travelled to Warkworth for their first meeting of the year in the Central Petite B Ringette League. After a cou- ple of hard practices on Monday night and Saturday morning it ap- peared the I.G.A. squad was ready to take on Warkworth in Warkworth. The first 3 or 4 minutes of the game was quite even with Warkworth having a few shots on goal. As the game progressed, Port took control of the play, but had a hard time putting any shots towards the Warkworth goal. After the first period, the score read Warkworth 2, Port Perry 0. The second half was a duplicate copy of the first period with Port not getting many shots, but hav- ing the majority of the play. With the score 4-0 for Warkworth, Port finally got on the scoresheet on a goal at 3:26, deep in the Warkworth end of the rink on a Port Perry Free Pass. From the circle on the free pass, Jennifer Elliot lofted a high shot towards the goalie which bounced in front of her and went in. This made the score 4-1. The clock ran down on the Port team and the final score was Warkworth 4, Port Perry 1. Playing in goal for Port Perry was Kristie Aldridge. From past games Port knew it had to im- prove on the ring possession time. In this game they improved on the possession time and also took the rom left: Ryan Delsol, Shawn Robertson, Mary Fowl- advantage in the free pass depart- ment. Port was outshot 22-10 and thus outscored 4-1. Remember girls, "Nice things happen to nice people." So be nice, keep trying and have fun. Next game for the Port Perry I.G.A. girls is Saturday, December 1 against Sunderland in Port Perry at 5:30. Come on out and support our local girls. Novice houseleague Van Camp 6 - Re/Max 2 Jason Whitworth came up with another strong game giving all he had to make it hard for Re/Max to get on track. Joel Thomson put Van Camp up one after 3 minutes of play. Jason then went to work scoring the next three goals. Ahead 4-0, Van Camp slowed down a little. Braden Tar- botton put on a burst of speed on his next two shifts to score twice. At 4-2, the game was going end to end, Michael Dalby somehow got the puck on his stick and put it in the net. Jason Whitworth got the next goal to make it 4 for the day. Van Camp assists went to Nick Ostafichuck, Darren Royle, John Bacon, Matthew Caldwell, Mur- phy Irvine, Ian Garnett and Mat- thew McGarry. Re/Max assists went to Trevor Barr, Steve Nagy, Chris Skarrett and Jeff Harrison. Dane Gray and Ryan Woods both played great in goal. On Saturday, November 17, the Uxbridge Swim Club, including a number of swimmers from Port Perry, completed a very suc- cessful competition at the Picker- ing Rec Center. The Novice swim- mers placed very well in the meet between 8 clubs from this area. Some very exciting relay races were won by the team. Mary Fowler, Thea Demmers, Chelsea Ferguson and Jenny Cramm won a gold medal in the 200 meter free- style relay for a 1st place finish in their age group, while Sandra Clark, Heather Cramm, Basja Demmers and Jen Robertson also won a gold medal for 1st place in the 200 meter free-style relay in the 9 and 10 girls category. Individual medal winners from Port Perry include: Mary Fowler with a silver medal for 2nd place in the girls 11 and 12 year old 100 meter, free-style; Thea Demmers with a silver medal for a 2nd place Blackstock Port Perry swimmers caught speeding in the girls 11 and 12 year old 50 meter breaststroke; Basja Dem- mers with a bronze medal for a 3rd place finish in the girls 9 and 10 year old 50 m. free-style. A strong showing was also made by Carla Leszkowicz. Over the weekend, the members of the Uxbridge Swim team competed in the Lindsay "Blue Streak" tournament. Members of the team from Port Perry included Sandy, Laura and Colin Mark, Carly McEnaney, Mary Fowler, Aa- ron Tiessen, Thea and Basja Demmers. All swam personal bests and helped the Uxbridge team to a second place finish overall in this Level 1 meet. Several of the swimmers were thrilled to have the chance to see Commonwealth record holder Nancy Sweetman in ac- tion at this meet. hands Monsma first loss Game 1 saw Woody's & Framer's complete an O.T. game from October 14. Regulation had the team's deadlocked at 3 and Woody's come out on top in O.T. 5-4. Gene Woodrow scored both O.T. goals for Woody's assisted by Jim Gregg and Rob Mason. Keith Dalton unassisted replied for Framer's. Their regular game saw Framer's edge out Woody's 2-1. Mark Graham from Brian Mikkelson and Keith Dalton from Eric Kristenson and Mark Graham scored for Framer's. Brian McBride from Pat Cook and Martin Joncas had Woody's goal. Game 2 had red hot Emmerson against 2nd place B&R/Swamp. A tight checking affair saw Swamper's come out on top 2-0. Brian Pomeroy from Mike Mole opened the scoring. Tim Ashbridge from Dan Taylor sup- plied the insurance marker. Keith Tremblay had the shutout. The final game of the day was the upset of the day as previous- ly undefeated Monsma went down to defeat at the hands of Blackstock 5-2. Blackstock built up a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Ron Wagg from Jerry Reid and Kevin Grieve. Pete Kunning from Ron Wagg, Dave Dalton from Bill Pratt and Tom Wotten. Monsma got on the board 1:04 in- to the 2nd. Steve Williams from Greg Gibson and Kerr Kingston scoring. Blackstock regained their 3 goal lead as Ron Short unassisted scored. Monsma' cut: back into that lead with Greg Gib- son scoring from Sean McQuar- rie. Bill Pratt from Ron Short in- to an open net finished the scoring. - - =" Perry Ladies travelled to Picker- ing to take on Oshawa Ball - Buster's. Although Port Perry' controlled the play in regulatioh' and had numerous chance¥ to score, regulation ended 0-0. O.T. once again wasn't kind to the ladies as they lost 2-1. Allison Harriman scored the lone Port goal. On Sunday night in Brooklin, Port met with rival Courtice Auto Wreckers and came out with a win. Michele Andrews unassisted had the lone goal.
