White gift service Dec. 9 Grant and Lynne Evans have returned from a trip to Ottawa where Lynne had an art exhibi- tion at Ottawa Conference Centre. The Floyd Evans family gathered at the home of Gary and Debbie Evans on Sunday to celebrate their dad's birthday. Earl and Elizabeth Taylor were in London, Ont. for the weekend visiting son John, his wife Wendy and their granddaughter Heather, while Margaret and Shawn Sevier looked after the home fires. The Youth Group had a good time a their November meeting at the Arnold Kerry home. Elmer and Ruth Wilson visited Tuesday evening with Ross and Barbara Evans. Uxbridge Health Care Centre held a bazaar on Sat. The baking disappeared quickly and many from our area enjoyed the Christmas pudding. A very suc- cessful project. Women's Institute Christmas dinner - Dec. 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Barb and Ross Evans. This is pot-luck - bring first course UCW plan luncheon by Helen McKean Visitors with Armour & Rachel McMillan this past week were Mr. and Mrs. Andy Davidson of Cambray, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snoddon of Valentia, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McMillan of Oshawa and Mrs. Ann Litton and daughter Jamie from Oakville. Mr. Wm. Graham visited with old neighbours last Frida afternoon. Please remember the U.C.W. December meeting on Dec. 5. This is to be a "Pot Luck Lun- cheon" at 12:30 noon. Bring an item for our Christmas cheer box for Operation Scugog. We are happy to report Mrs. Liz Perry is home from hospital. Do keep well, Liz! Mrs. Muriel Gibson and Helen McKean joined a tour bus on the weekend to see "The Festival of Lights" in Niagara Falls, New York, titled "Celebration of Im- agination." We also attended a show with "Tammy Wynette and Roy Clark' on Saturday. Then toured the city to see all the lights. On the Canadian side the lights were so spectacular too. On Sun- day we saw the "Irish Rovers" show, followed by a Christmas Turkey dinner before returning home. This is one international border in the world, which is a show of '"'Peace on Earth." No war or guns & we travel freely to visit each other. We are happy to welcome new neighbours to Greenbank. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Newlove and son Cruse have moved into the Ran- dy Watson home. The monthly 'Sing Song" will be next Sunday at church before the service. Come early if you like to sing your favourite hymns. Please call with news to 985-2944. Wings prevail A 6-4 victory was recorded for the Red Wings over the Golden Hawks in Jr. Floor Hockey action at R.H. Cornish on Monday, November 19. Although the action was fast on both sides in the first period only one goal was scored. The goal, for the Golden Hawks, was scored by Eric Bird. The second period had both teams giving their all and ended in a 2-2 tie. Matthew MacMaster scored the Golden Hawks goal and Tyson Beesley and Adam Youmans each popped one in the net for the Red Wings. The third period saw the Red Wings pull ahead with a 6-4 vic- tory. Jerrold and Don Asling visited Mr. Gordon MacDonald at Whit- by hospital, then visited Mrs. Hazel Asling of Ajax and found her much improved. Ollie Barton of Uxbridge visited Don and Stella Asling on Thurs- day while Jerrold and Joan Asl- ing of Hanover were weekend guests. Faye and Keith Ashton, James and Robt. called to have lunch with the family. The Epsom Utica ladies will have their annual Christmas lunch at Epsom Church on December 11. I understand Donna Van Veghel's boys choir will be sing- ing at the children's Christmas party at The Immaculate Concep- tion Hall on December 3. Our U.C.W. are catering for a dinner for the Day Care Centre on December 1. December 16 - Epsom Church for Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. The Social Club for December is hanging on a star. I'll tell you where, when, and why next week. At the Royal Winter Fair Alexis Sterritt placed 1st in the Welsh Cob horse class with her horse "Phantom." Wendy Evans, a member of Durham West 4-H Club team at Scotia Bank Hays Classic. Mary Evans accompanied the team this year and made an admirable showing competing against 263 other young people from across Canada. Wendy placed second in In- termediate Showmanship return- ing in the Grand Championship Class to be placed third. Mr. Gourlie is feeling better and is home from a visit to the hospital.
