tie i f 4 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, December 27, 1990 Garden Club prize winners On December 4th, Pine Ridge Garden Club held their Christmas Pot Luck Supper and the Election of Officers, chaired by our District Director, Anne Bourke. Prizes & Trophies were presented to the winners of various competitions held in 1990. Grace Bajema won for the best flower garden and Dini Oosterholt the best vegetable garden. Both were presented with the Johansen Trophies. Grace also had the most points in the Cultural Division and was awarded with the Newton Trophy. Pat Kingstone was presented with the Lillian Smith Trophy for most points in the Decorative Division. The Analda Trophy for most points from all shows was won by Grace. The Photo Competition held at Blackstock Fair was won by Liisa Ryan, Tettje Prins and Marilyn Clarke. These ladies were presented with processing vouchers donated by Ports Photo, Port Perry Plaza. Ann Julia Be- jamas' Cover Design will grace our 1991 Yearbook. JR. GARDEN CLUB Most points in the Juniors was won by Michelle Bonsma. A special award certificate was LN -- -- Pl -- | Restaurant and Wining Lounge Canadian and Butch Luigine presented by Mavis Brodie to Kingley, Joshua, Nicholas & Marley Malcolm for their special efforts at the Jr. Garden Club's Convention held in September. Executive elected for 1990 - President Shirley Love, 1st V.P. Betty Forsyth, 2nd V.P. Pat Kingstone, Secretary Tina Wolters, Treasurer Rie Hooge- veen. Directors Paul Johansen, Grace Bajema, Ida Hurtig, Claudia McDiarmid, Tina Wolters, Kathleen Petrie, Anne Woud, Marilyn Clarke, Mary Moore, Rika Wygerde, Mavis Brodie and Marliese Hassler. The door prize, a lovely fruit basket donated by I.G.A. was won by Katie Coates & the 2nd prize donated by Guardian Drugs went to Joshua Malcolm, two members from the Jr. Garden Club. Win- ners of the Monthly Competition were Tettje Prins, Shirley Love and Audrey Klienjan. Prizes for the above were donated by Brock's Department Store and Dini Oosterholt. The Directors are busy planning next year's competitions and program- mes, which will commence on March 5, 1991. On behalf of the Executive and Directors, healthy and happy gardening in 1991. Cornish get safely across Queen Street as classes were out for the ho lidays. And Santa had candy canes for the students as well. Actually, this Santa Is crossing guard Roy Grierson who helped get the students in the mood for Christmas by donning the bright red suit and frosty whiskers. Lisa Hayes, co-op student at GM Named to Honour GMI Lisa Hayes, daughter of Eleanore Hayes, of Port Perry, Ontario, has been selected for membership in the Management Honor Society at GMI Engineer- ing & Management Institute, Flint, MI. Lisa, a senior, was selected by her co-op employer for society membership on the basis of outstanding leadership and managerial ability. Ms. Higginson has a wealth of experience as an advocate for children with special needs and their families in the Region of Durham. The C.S.C.
