It is time for honesty in relationships at home and abroad. The group of people from these parishes will be placing a candle, or a light, in their windows for the first seven evenings of the New Year. In so doing they hope to make their call for enlightenment and awareness heard in our Mayor's comments ~ From Page 1 reation facility is not possible for the Township in the current economic climate and the lack of new development levies flow- ing into Scugog's coffers. The Mayor said he is hope- ful that development in Scugog will perk up towards the end of the year, if the nation-wide re- cession eases. But development is also hampered locally by the lack of sewer capacity. There has been discussion of expanding the treatment ca- pacity, but no firm commitment from the Region. The Mayor said the Town- ship hopes to start a compre- hensive public education cam- paign on the need to reduce garbage through re-cycling, re- using and reducing. And he hopes to get that campaign off the ground early in the year, following a meeting with council, Regional reps, and members of the Zero Garbage Committee, the citizens group that was formed in the fall when two potential dump sites were identified in Scugog's Ward 4.
