a ------------ LS Variety of exhibitions at Memorial Library The remainder of the 1990-91 season at Scugog Memorial Public Library will be most in- teresting with a variety of exhibitions. The first show is Folk Art by Robert Wylie, January 12 - February 1. Robert was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He came to Canada in 1954 and began carving in 1981. He is currently working out of his studio in Thomasburg, Ontario. Robert's work is in private collections in Canada, U.S.A. and Britain. Photographs of his work appear in the books "Folk Art"' by Blake McTendry, "Folk Art Treasurer of Ontario" and '"'Ontario Heritage Founda- tion." His carvings range from stylistical to whimsical and are most sought after by many collec- tors. Robert will be present at the library on Saturday, January 12 from 1:30 - 4 p.m. and the public is invited to meet him.~ and chat about his delightful work. February 2 - 22 will bring "Sum- mer Memories" - Watercolours by Sylvia Valentine. The exhibi- tion space at the library will be blooming with wonderful floral paintings. Sylvia lives in Courtice, Ontario and was honoured in 1989 as the "Samac Painter of the Year." March 30 - April 19 is an exhibi- tion of Mixed Media Paintings and Constructions by Lynne Mcllvride Evans followed by Oil & Watercolour Paintings by Judy Bear Campbell. Miniature Log Buildings by Bill Earle will be displayed May 11-31 and the season will conclude with Water- colour and Oil Paintings by C. Tit- combe June 1-21. Sunday school resumes After a busy holiday season we are now back to routine, school buses are back on the road which means students are back in classes, General Motors is back to work and mom is doing her own thing. I hope everyone had a good holiday. Sunday School will return January 13 at the regular time, after being off for a couple of weeks. . Callers during the past week with Armour and Rachel McMillan was Mr. and Mrs. Don Fergusson of Bobcaygeon and Mr. and Mrs. Lea Snoddon of Valentia. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carswell of Buckhorn visited one day last week with Margaret and Robert Couperthwaite. Donald McKean has returned home from hospital. He had a se- cond 'hip replacement operation.' This too has been so successful. After four years of terrible pain in both knees, we are happy to report no more pain. Dr. T. Porter of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie is to be praised for the miracle, so Don can once more walk without pain. Helen and Don want to thank their friends and neighbours for their good wishes and prayers at this special time of year. Mr. and Mrs. George McKean of West Hill and sister Jean Butler were Sunday visitors with the McKeans. Don't forget the 'Euchre' at the hall on Friday evening at 8 p.m. Come out have a fun time and help support the community hall. Thought for the week: It isn't how much you know but what you get done that the world rewards and remembers. VINYL SIDING 287 . "por sq. (approx. 100 sg. ft.)
