Ray and Barb Porter, Sharmen and Glen have recently returned home following a two week vaca- tion visiting with Barb's parents in Victoria, B.C. Mrs. Annie Hamilton from Belleville spent Christmas with Grant and Sheila Parrott and family. Theo and Joan Knight enter- tained their family on Boxing Day. Mrs. Ruth Purdy from Orangeville is enjoying a few days with Doug and Florence Ashton. We enjoyed our Christmas dinner as a family on Sunday. It was nice to have an ex- tended Chritsmas. Eleven tables of euchre were played at the last euchre party. Ladies first prize went to Edna Manns, second to Verna Slute; Mens first to George Harper, se- cond to Bill Gardner; Lone hands to Don Linton, lucky door prize ay Font winner-Muriel Whitbread, 50-50 draw won by Edna Manns. Next euchre is on Thursday, January 10th. We are pleased that Muriel Fisher has returned home from hospital, and is progressing favourably. The Ladies Bible Class will meet on Wednesday afternoon of this week at the home of Florence Ashton at 2 o'clock. The church annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 3rd. Plans are being made for the Burns Supper at Burns Church Hall on January 25th. The tickets are $13.50. Get your tickets early, as the number of tickets is limited. The Inaugural of Pickering Presbyterial is on Saturday, January 26th at Unionville Presbyterian Church, Village Parkway. This is for all members of the congregation. The industry-wide committee was formed at the request of Ontario Minister of Agriculture and Food Elmer Buchanan, to study the marketing system for chicken in Ontario. At the meeting, members "decided that the committee's first mandate would be to review the current manner in which live chickens are assigned to pro- 'cessors. The committee will report to the minister by March 31, 1991. Anyone interested in making a submission to the committee can make either verbal or written presentations. Verbal presenta- tions will be heard on a first- come, first-served basis. To arrange an appointment for a presentation, call Sophia Din- nissen at (416) 861-2957.
