It's in- dended to be a special day when people show love and affection to those close to them. The first Valentine was printed by Esther Howland in the mid 1800's. It sold for as much as $35.00. Many changes since then so undoubted- ly you'll all receive your share of Valentines this coming Thursday, February 14, Valentines Day! Happy Birthday Evva Annie Evarilda Davidge (Ev- va) was 101 years old on February 10. Mind you, she doesn't look 101 - more like 75. That's because she is a warm, gentle, loving person with a quiet sense of humour, and a perma- nent twinkle in her eyes. Although she is very hard of hearing and a little shakier than she used to be, she is a non-complainer. If you ask her how she is, she says "fine," or "pretty good." She still. plays euchre, reads, crochets, and does some baking - mince pies being her speciality. She loves shopping, and having lunch in town; she loves coffee, muffins and ice-cream, especial- ly ice-cream; she loves children, her own are special; as well as her great grandchildren; she loves flowers, birds, cats, and dogs, and especially Ginger; and she loves Port Perry - the town of freindly people!
