The Marathon Bridge Club started in 1983, when Emmie Cox suggested to some friends thay they start a Marathon Bridge Club to support health services in the community. The format for the bridge club is two people who like to | play bridge together submit their names, and are given a number on the schedule. There are two schedules between Oc- tober, and April each year. During a two week period each couple plays once with an- other couple. Motto - travelling is broadening - by Joan Morris. Bread Making Course is in April. Betty Reader gave a "belated" interesting report from the con- vention last fall at the Royal York. Thank your Betty. We had the pleasure of having Mrs. McKean from Greenbank - District President, who spoke about the booth at the fair etc., and also Mrs. Muriel Gibson from Greenbank. Also congratulations to our award winning students - Vicki Newsome and Jeff Brown fron Scugog Island. Meeting clos- ed by singing O'Canada. Joan Morris introduced our guest, Mrs. Sylvia Gardener from Stephenson Point Rd., she brought along a friend, Mrs. Bar- chuk. Mrs. Gardener showed pic- tures of their trip through Eastern Europe - she gave a very in- teresting travelogue of their trip.
