Here it is a brand new week and we are well into the month of March! Wé will un- doubtedly have some rough weather yet, before spring comes in on March 21. Springtime is a season of hope, joy and cheer: with beauty all around us. The' trees will be leafing out; the birds will sing; and the flowers will bloom; there's no time like spring, when everything comes alive, and the world is young again. God never sends the winter without the pleasure of spring! World Day of Prayer The World Day of Prayer Ser- vice was observed on Friday, March 1. "As the women gathered together" for the 104th World Day of Prayer Service at Nestleton United Church with the six Cartwright churches par- ticipating; Mrs. Grace Hall was the able speaker bringing a splen- did message to those attending. Music was provided by Kathy Tromans and her mother Mrs. Marion Moldogano of Rexdale, with Carol Mairs accompanying at the piano. They sang two numbers '"Each Step 1 Take" and "I Walk With His Hand In Mine" - lovely harmonious duets, which were much appreciated. The World Day of Prayen Ser- vice is worldwide, and was writ- ten by the women of Kenya. Each year the Service is written by women of a different country. In Canada, it is sponsored by the women's Inter Church Council of Canada, and local services are organized by ecumenical groups across the country. After the service, refreshments were served downstairs in the Sunday School room and an hour of sociability enjoyed by all. Nestleton United Church A fine attepdance of parents especially at ¥.ent 3, morning ser- vice at Nestleton United Church, with Katie Mairs greeting at the door. This was '"Thinking Day"' Church Parade 'with the Pathfinders - Guides - and Brownies and their leaders at this special service with the Colour 'Guard procession with lighted candles, to the front of the church. Robert and Katie Mairs took the Lenten Candle Litany and lit the first one. During the music, the Pathfinders sang, 'The Guide World Song" with Carol Mairs at the piano. Rev. Dale Davis presented the message theme, "Doing Our Best' with Scripture from Ex- odus 20: 1-17 read by Heidi Obstfeld and John 2: 13-22 read by Heather Goulding. Kay Heuer en- chanted the children with her story during the children's theme. Offering by Katie Mairs and Heather Malcolm. Lovely old hymns in keeping for 'Thinking Day" were "All Things Bright And Beautiful" and 'The Wise May Bring Their Learning' were sung. Service closed with Benediction and Three Fold Amen. A very interesting service! Nestleton Presbyterian Church With a smaller congregation in attendance due to icy weather conditions, Rev. Wm. Fairley con- ducted the morning service in Nestleton Presbyterian Church. Joyce Taylor played the hymns and Dorothy Lee taught the Sun- day School. The children's story was on the book of Ruth; a heart of love, for God's love is for everyone in the world. The' sermon, using the Scripture reading Psalm 105 - Genesis 46 and St. John II, reassures, Christ is our Resurrec- tion and the Cross of Jesus Christ is the Covenant to us.
