Church and Sunday School this week will be here in Utica at 11:00 a.m. There will be a euchre this Fri- day at 8 p.m. in Utica Hall. Looking ahead to May 5th, the Utica Day Care Centre is having a Spring Craft Show in Utica Hall and are now renting tables at $10.00 each. For more information call the centre at 985-8783 or Kim Sharpe at 576-9200 after hours. Also, the Day Care would like to expand it's child care facilities. They would like to offer '» day programs for kindergarten ages; before and after school programs for children 6 - 9 years and a part- time nursery school for children 22 to4 years. Congratulations to Clive and Linda Powell on the arrival of a nephew who is the son of Linda's brother Eric and Heather Olsen of With February ending we had our monthly birthday party on Monday the 25th. This month's party was sponsored by the Court Lady Snowbirds. Everyone got in- volved in a sing-song. Our special birthday folks were very pleased with their delightful gifts. Over the next couple of days we were kept busy with plant care, sing- songs, baking and crafts. During the evening of Thursday, Feb. 28th we had the Sunderland Girl Guides visit and put on a bingo for us. Some girls also got involved with woodworking side by side with the residents. On our first day of March we held a discussion on the cease fire in the Gulf. With our glasses of champagne we honoured a toast to the troops in- volved. Afterwards we were quite busy decorating for St. Patricks. Another great week began with games. We held a 'Peel it Off' Contest (with potatoes) and also had a game of "Irish Wheel of Fortune'. Tuesday March 5th many residents took part in '"'Fun with Art'. They produced a love- ly rainbow mural in honour of St. Patrick's Day. Over the next 2 days we sponsored manicures, shoe shine, euchre, foot clinic, crafts and coffee hour. Friday March 15th ended another week along with our Hole in the Wall Party. We all go together to reminisce the extension of our ac- tivity room which happened 2 years ago. Birthday wishes are sent out to Mrs. Margarite Brock (19), Mrs. Phylis Midgley (22), Mr. George Manderson (24) and Mrs. Eva Stone (25). Upcoming events are Residents Council-2 p.m. (13), Craft Club-7:30 (13), Maple Syrup Trip (14), St. Patrick's Party-7 p.m. (15), Irish Buck Auction-2 p.m. (19), Out for Lunch-11 a.m. (20), Pub Night-7 p.m. (21), Irish Day (22), and making Easter Eggs (25-26). Please join us in some fun. Reminder: Our upcoming Spring Bazaar will be held on Sat. May 11th. Also we will be hosting 2 Varie- ty Nights in hope of raising funds for our proposed trip to Florida in 1992. We hope you can join us on April 12th & 13th for this special event. I don't suppose anybody notic- Congratulations to Rick and Shirley Bell who celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday evening in Utica. This was a surprise celebration put on by their family. Dinner and dan- cing was enjoyed by their family and friends. During the March break, most people were heading south to escape old man winter, but we have a few neighbours who have just arrived home from their vacation. Lorne and Eileen Slute thoroughly enjoyed their bus tour of Florida. Gord and Grace Kirk are back home from their vacation to Florida. Murray and Marie Geer en- joyed a bus tour to California which gave them an opportunity to stop in many interesting places. Maybe those who went on vaca- tion during the March break would give me a call at 985-7564 so I may include them in my news next week. Tyler Renaud (right) was the winner of the First Open Air Palace Ice Golf Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 24. First prize was 25 per cent of the tournament's total entry fees.The event was sponsored by the Ice Palace Committee and the Kinsmen Club of Port Perry. David Goldberg, a member of both groups, presented Tyler with the cheque at the Star office Fri- day morning. A meeting to discuss the first season of the Ice Palace and to plan for next year is being held Wednesday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kinsmen Hall.
