Tyson Beesley and Michael Wiseman gave the Red Wings an early lead in the first period by scoring 1 goal a piece. Greg Langford scored the 5th Red Wing goal in the third period. The third Golden Hawks goal was scored by Scott Brownson. Goaltending duties for the Golden Hawks were shared by Dan Deeth, Glenn Thompson and Tyler Houthuys. Adam Youmans played a great game, remaining in net for the Red Wings for all 3 periods. All 3 levels of YMCA floor hockey players are currently sell- ing raffle tickets for a hockey "Signature" stick autographed by stars of the N.H.L. The proceeds from this raffle will go back into Port Perry "Y"' floor hockey. Floor hockey for all 3 levels will resume on Monday, March 18. { "uN PRR cot ir os Servier evening with the second sched- second, Julie Harris, vice, MArk On Saturday the Pineridge Atom No. 2 Team participated in a tournament in Keene near Peterborough. Their first game was against Bowmanville and unfortunately the team did not have much luck as Bowmanville coasted to an 8-1 win. Scoring the lone goal for Port was Jason Heyworth assisted by Blayne Kinnunen. Best effort award went to lan Parliament. In the second game Port was up against the host team St. Paul's. Jamie Strickert got things rolling as he scored unassisted from a shot from the point. Pineridge made it 2-0 in the first as Adam Hobbs scored from in front. Assists to Jason Heyworth and Blayne Kinnunen. In the second and third periods Danny Lyons took charge as he scored a 'hat-trick' to lead Port to a 5-2 win, and a place in the con- solation final. Picking up an assist on Danny's second goal was Blayne Kinnunen who also won the best effort award for the Atom 2 update game. In the consolation final Port was up against the team from Hastings. They took the lead in the first but Scott Harper tied it up in the second on a nice goal from the side of the net. Assists to Scott Jeffrey and Scott Sanderson. Hastings again took the lead in the second but Port came back in the third, as Justin Halligan set Danny Lyons free on a break away. Danny gave the goalie no chance as he tied it up 2-2. Unfortunately for Port, Hastings got the winner late in the third period for the 3-2 win. Best effort award to Jamie Strickert. On Sunday Port travelled to Ajax for an exhibition game. Although they played hard and tried their best Ajax just had that extra step as they skated to a 5-1 win. Scoring the lone marker for Port was Justin Halligan assisted by lan Parliament and Scott Jeffrey. Scugog mens SPORTSLAND UPSETS FITZGERALD'S!!! The first game of the day was no contest as Norton's easily got past Crandell's 7-2. Leading the way for Norton's was Darcy Milligan with a great 4 goal game, Donovan Smith 2 goals and Dave Milton 1. Assists went to Dave Dickson 4, Dave Roth 2, Doug Suppelsa 2, Marvin Stevenson, Rob Kroonenburg and Bill Haynes each with 1. For Crandell"s it was Steve Groves from Ken Jeffrey, and Doug Bronson from Steve Groves and Bob Lee. Game two was another one sid- ed affair but it ended on a little closer note as Anderson's shutout Van & Truck World 3-0. Scoring for Anderson's were Bill Van Camp 1 goal, 1 assist, Dave Bourgeois 1 goal, 1 assist and John Kotarba 1 goal. Single assists went to Lee Steeves, Tom Patton, Chris McGarry and Larry Jackson. Don Card played an excellent hockey league game in net to earn the shutout. Game three was the upset of the day as Sportland came through again, this time beating first place Fitzgerald's 4-2: Counting for Sportland were Brad Hurst 2 goals, 1 assist, Bill Owen 1 goal, 1 assist and Mark Jobb 1 goal. Brian Callery had 2 assists while Dave Harrison pick- ed up 1. Fighting back for Fitzgerald's were Gary Lance unassisted and Bart Wager from Ken Smart and Carl Fitzgerald. The final game saw an ex- changing of goals with J&D com- ing out on top of Compton 5-4. Scorers for J&D were Fred Moffatt 2 goals, Joe Curran 1 goal, 2 assists, Jason Warner 1 goal, 1 assist and Richard Sakanashi 1 goal. Other assists went to Rob Evans 3, and Ken Little 1. Tallying for Compton were Tim Ashbridge 2 goals, Larry Pilkey 1 goal, 1 assist and Todd Wilbur 1 goal. Colin Asselstine had 2 assists and Jim Fowler 1. Pee Wee house league Scala 4 - Big V3 Scala Bros. started the scoring early with a goal by Kevin Hobbs on a breakaway with a wrist shot over Kyle McClymont's outstret- ched catcher. Before the first period ended Luke Martin deflected a corner pass from John McCourt for Scala's second goal. This period saw some good hockey ac- tion with end to end skating but not goals. The third period came in like a lion with Kevin Hobbs uping Scala's goal total to 3 after a nice pass from Chris Vandemere. Sandy Mark brought Big V even on two end to end rushes both en- ding in goals 14 seconds apart. Not to be outdone Kevin Hobbs' third goal of the game with two minutes left proved to be the win- ner in a well played game. Scala won a Penalty Free Achievement Award from Esso for a penalty free game they played against Uxbridge.
