Mariposa ladies group meets tonight Congratulations to Jennifer Berry (from Robinglade Estates) of the Port Perry Figure Skating Club and her partner Timothy Fowler of Lakefield who represented the Eastern Ontario Section in Preliminary Ice Danc- ing at the All Ontario Skating Championships in Bowmanville on Saturday. Although not bringing home a medal, the couple skated their "personal best performance" ac cording to their coach, Brian Evans of Lindsay. Sincere con- gratulations to you both from your friends and neighbours. We'll look forward to following your progress in the years to come. Hope everyone enjoyed March Break. The weatherman certain- ly cooperated - maybe not for the kids who enjoy skiing. Sure was nice to go for a walk without boots, etc, etc. Hope all those lucky folk who went away had a good time also! Welcome Home to Ivan and Eleanor Nicholls who returned from a delightful two week vaca- tion in the Caribbean. They were guests of her brother and sister- in-law Fred and Dorothy De Nure at their home in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Mrs. Augusta Mark of Scar- borough spent the weekend with Mrs. Gertie Wanamaker. On Sun- day afternoon attended a birthday party for Mrs. Jean Martyn of Prince Albert at home of Mrs. John Lake of Oakwood. Sympathy is extended to Ivan and Marion Barrett and Family in the passing last Tuesday at Ross Memorial Hospital of Marion's brother Wilber Holliday of Little Britain. Helen Prior conducted the church service this Sunday in the absence of Rev. Shepherd. Helen is a second year theology student at Emanual College in Toronto. During the service Alexis Steven- son extinguished the fifth lenten triangle candle. Happy birthday wishes this week to Katherine Cooke who turned 8 on March 23rd. Belated birthday wishes to Lindsay Kearns, Brian Sturman and Christopher Wilhelm. A final reminder the Mariposa Ladies Group meets tonight, Tuesday, at the Seagrave United Church at 7:30 p.m. The topic is self-defense. Anyone interested in learning and attending is welcome at $2.00 per person. Reminder of the Robinglade Womens Group meeting Wednes- day, March 27th at Joan Gordon's home. Ladies are reminded to take an extra dollar to this meeting and their own mug. Our topic this month is 'Saving our Environment'. That's it this week. For news next week, please call Diane Cooke at 985-3722. Robins spotted in village The Robins made their ap- pearance in the village this past week. I noticed the 1st one on Thursday as I sat enjoying my morning cup of coffee. Even though Spring is officially here this week, can we not expect some more winter weather before the end of March? Palm Sunday will be observed with Church & Sunday School ser- vices being held in Epsom Church at 11 a.m. The Social Club meet this Satur- day at Epsom Church at 8 p.m. Bring your favorite game or con- test and ladies please provide finger food. On Thursday, April 4th starting at 8 p.m. there will be a congrega- tional meeting for the Epsom- Utica Goodwood charge in Good- wood United Church to hear the recommendations of the Pastoral Relations Committee regarding the calling of a minister. This is a very important meeting and all members of the congregation are urged to attend. There will be an informal infor- mation session on composting on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Scugog Memorial Library. Everyone interested in this sub- ject are invited to attend. There were 12 tables of euchre played on Friday evening in Utica. Indoor pools come in handy at such times too. Johanna Urech is home from her vacation in Key Largo where the weather was warm and very anjoyable.
