RR DG the "Head" U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Clara Dowson. Marilyn Tripp conducted the meeting in the absence of Helen Hortop. The Worship period was based on Mother's Day and a reading of a Model Mother, described the Mother of Jesus. In roll call members were ask- ed to give their Mother's maiden name. Correspondence of appreciation was received from Grace Love in recognition of her special birth- day and Easter, from Reta Rod- man in Oshawa for her Easter remembrance and with expres- sions of regret in not being able to attend our U.C.W. functions but with fond memories and interest in all her former friends and acquaintances. Alma Manns and Betty Collins had been sent notes of apprecia- tion for their hours of assistance in quilting. Allen Redman relayed appreciation for remembrance during his recent hospitalization in treatment for arthritis. An in- vitation was received from the Euchre Friday night Church and Sunday School this week will be held in Utica at 11:00 a.m. There will be a euchre this Fri- day in Utica Hall starting at 8 p.m. The U.C.W. will meet on Tues- day, May 14 starting at 1 p.m. with dessert and refreshments. Guests for the afternoon will be members of Cherrywood, Pine Grove and Goodwood U.C.W.s. Guest speaker will be Olive Evans and she will speak about her re- vent visit to India and will also show her pictures. Due to the effort of Rev. Bil McKay and the Uxbridge Boys Choir under the direction of Don- na VanVeghel, $112.00 was sent to Dr. Pat Asling for her work in Jamaica. This money was realiz- ed from the Music Night held in Utica Church recently. And there's a new member in the church family this past week with the birth of a baby girl to the the original ... Our thoughts were with our member Mrs. Marie Clark, formerly Sweetman of Scugog who recently lost her husband, Lloyd, who suffered many months with heart trouble. We extend sympathy to her family and his family. Oldham family. Congratulations to Brad, Pam and boys. Wally and Jean Scott of London visited with Mrs. Crosier recently. Happy birthday to Rebecca Ak- ed who will be 6 years old this Sunday, May 12. The Brian Slute family were re- cent visitors with Lorne and Eileen. Sunday evening daughter Sharane and her sons Adam and Ian Ross visited to celebrate the boys' birthdays. Hillis and Carol Wilbur, Lee and Lisa were Saturday supper guests with Ruby Beare in Port Perry and later attended the per- formance of Me & My Girl at the Town Hall with other family members. On Sunday Hillis and Carol and Ralph and Elsie Wilbur attended the Wilbur reunion lun- cheon at Solina. Sunday supper guests with the Wilburs were their family, Scott and Sandy of Caven, Todd and Carolyn, Lisa Lown and Lee. une 3 Prior to lunch we had some light lighthearted but appropriate readings "I can't Remember" by Helen Redman, 'Pensions' by Clara Dowson and "Sunday Shop- ping' a hundred years ago by Reta Reader. During lunch Clara made the period more interesting by distribution of personal awards. The "Grace". U.C.W. seem to do exceptionally well with hot lun- cheons and will therefore serve another one on Sat.
