LA va. st mn RE a A grease fire was deemed the cause of a blaze in Cadmus which destroyed a cottage at 4320 Edgerton Rd. Fire officials estimated the amount of damage to be approximately $35,000. No one was Injured in the fire. 12th annual Ride for Sight this weekend Ten thousand motorcyclists from each province and territo- ry in Canada will be joining forces this coming weekend to raise funds for the RP Eye Re- search Foundation. The riders will be making their way along Durham Road 23, Saturday morning in the 9th annual National Ride For Sight, and the 12th Annual Central Ontario Ride For Sight. This year's goal is one million SE dollars. All money goes towards funding scientists to find a cure for the blinding eye disease re- tinitis pigmentosa. Since its inception in 1979, Ride For Sight has donated 4.5 million dollars towards eye re- searchin Canada. There will be two rides in On- tario, British Columbia, and Manitoba this year. Last year, donations were still being re- ceived six months after the event. In the 1990 Ride there Pet of the Week A female yellow lab is this week's featured pet. The dog, aged three to four months, was found near Cawker's Cove on May 28. She Is very gentle and appears to get along well - with kittens. Riders obtain donor books from local motorcycle dealers, at the Ride For Sight booth at motorcycle shows, Ride co- ordinators, and the RP Eye Re- - search Foundation. The riders solicit donations in cash or cheque from family, friends, fellow workers, and the general public. Details are en- tered in the donation book, and a temporary receipt is given. On the day of the ride, riders take their donation book and donations to the rally point where they are deposited and riders register to enter the rally site.
