One day you go out and dou- ble fault, foot fault, flub, miss short and miss long. The next day you go out and you're just plain terrible. There is still time to register your child in the Junior Summer Tennis "Camp", running from Ju- ly 8 to July 26, ages 8 to 16. Please call 985-3091. Mites split two games Last week our 9-10 Mites "Rep"' team split their games leaving them with a record of eight wins, one tie and three losses. On June 25 at home, we defeated Pickering by a 9-4 margin. Michael Versage scored two runs for Port and Mark Richardson had two walks. Scott Cunningham made his catching debut while Chris Monsma and Braden Tarbottan came up from the House League for some ex- perience. Mike McLennan and Justin Biggelstone chipped in with singles as well. Chris Jones pitched a complete game win with 13 strike outs and added a triple and a home run. The host Stouffville team came from behind to wipe out a 6-1 Port Perry lead on June 26 to steal a 7-6 final inning victory. In this game the Stouffville pitcher gave up on- ly one hit, although Ryan McQuade and Jeff Ashton each recorded three walks. Jeff made a couple of excellent catching plays by tossing to Chris for a cou- ple of home plate outs when third base runner tried to score early in the game. Unfortunately walks and a couple of base-running mistakes caught up with our Mites. It is hoped the loss will be a good learning experience for them. In the Stouffville game Russell Brown came up from the House League and Justin Heyworth showed some versatility in taking a turn at the "hot corner". Aaron Chambers, Darryl Dalton and Reid McTaggart con- tinue to play enthusiastic ball and cover their fielding positions well. Our next home game is July 9 at the Water Street south diamond at6:30 p.m. Finalists in the Championship Round of the Mixed Doubles Tournament were, back left, John Scott and Diane Burt against front left, Werner Mees and Sophia Brendon, who won the Mixed Doubles Championship. ZSIPRIT Port Perry Tennis Club held their 17th annual Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament last weekend. Finalists in the Consolation Round were back, Sam and Joe Vanderwyst and front, Quinn Sunderland and Drew Cardinal, winners of the consolation round.
