Kiley Farmers to gather for Twilight dinner in Bowmanville, July 26 Farmer's hours can be rough, usually from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., the labourious work guarantees callouses and much of the time your business is at the mercy of the environment. However, when it's time to relax farmers let down their hair and celebrate with good clean family fun. On Friday, July 26 beginning at 6 p.m. 70 dairy cattle breeders from across the region will gather at Schwarz Bros. Livestock Ltd. farm in Bowmanville to celebrate the rights of summer with their annual Twilight Dinner. Each year the Durham County Holstein Twilight Dinner is held at a different host farm in the area. This is the first year that people outside the farming com- munity are being invited to at- tend, participate in the events, and view a dairy operation up close. The Durham County Holstein Club includes dairy breeders in an area bounded by Port Hope in the east, Oshawa to the west, Manvers County at the north and Lake Ontario to the south. The in- tent of the club is to give breeders a chance to exchange ideas and sponsor events which can pro- mote and better the breed. As with previous Twilight barbecues the $8 adult price and $3 children's price includes an evening filled with door prizes (donated by various local businesses), cattle judging, music and of course wonderful homemade food. Beatrice Dairy will be supplying the milk and ice cream. The predicted attendance is estimated at 600. The County Holstein Club Twilight Barbecue has become an eagerly awaited annual event ang this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever. . I
