8 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 16, 1991 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Letters io the editor LOCal Pathfinders travelling to Community needs support To the Editor: As members of a community in crisis, we ask you to support our effort to save the town of Kapuskasing. This crisis exists because of the inability of the government of On- tario and Kimberly Clark Cor- poration to come to an agreement on how to turn the company over to those who earnestly believe that it can continue to be a pro- ductive operation. And this without the cost of thousands of jobs. This past weekend, people from our community demonstrated at Queen's Park to protest the government's decision not to act. We ask your readers to show their support by writing to their MPP's or to Premier Bob Rae at Queen's Park, Toronto, Ontario. Kapuskasing isn't the only nor- thern Ontario community facing the loss of a major industry. Help us to show the Ontario govern- ment that we in the north have pride and dignity and will fight to save our towns, our jobs, and our families. Yours truly, Gesile Jensen Two distinct groups of dirt bike riders From Page 7 responsibility. This would not be a unique thing to happen as OCMC had a similar arrangement with the lawyer- owners of a piece of property referred to as Big Valley or Old Baldy, in your neighboring township. Our club used that pro- perty responsibly, to the satisfac- tion of the owners for a number of years until the property was even- tually sold. It should also be noted that since 1979 our Scugog Township members have held a yearly, pro- vincial event which customarily begins at the Port Perry Snowmobile Club clubhouse and exists to the satisfaction of the dozen generous land owners who allow us access to their property. If and when we have exclusive access to the Harnden and King property it will be a guarantee that the problems, garbage, trespassing and gunshots, men- tioned in your article will not emit from this property because that is the reason we are there!
