Blackstock Lions played a hard nitting and defensive game this week never letting up. Doubles by Andy Avis, Adam Wonnacott and Mike Carlson. Home run came from Jim Love, Mike Carlson, An- dy Avis, Josh Wilson and Dave Walker. Good plays by Dave Walker on a line drive at third to end the game and two pop flys. Tony Waldriff on second base put out all three runners in one inning. Peter Bostelman with a pop fly catch. Mike Carlson as backcat- cher all game throwing runners out at second and covering for the infield. Also a throw to Alisa Campbell at third base to tag out he Fupier. Josh Wilson and m Wonnacott great pop fly catches. Blackstock Lions played their best game this season. Keep up the good work. Tottenham: July 13 - The team McLaughlin fun run The City of Oshawa's Com- munity Services Department, Durham Athletic Club and Oshawa-Whitby This Week pre- sent the 8 km. McLaughlin Fun Run on Saturday, August 3, 1991. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. along Oshawa's beautiful Kiwanis Trail. This is the fifth year for the Run and organizers are expecting a record number of participants. Medals will be presented to the top three finishers in each of the 12 age categories. Refreshments will be provided at the finish line. The first 50 registrants will receive a free T-shirt, so get your entry form in quickly. The registration fee is only $8 ($10 after July 31). Entry forms are available at the Civic Auditorium Complex and at various other locations (call 725-1111 for locations nearest you). Jeremy Malcolm had a 4 for 4 night with four singles. Johnathan McCourt led off the game with a home run. Scott Nesbitt had the defensive play of the game, mak- ing a great catch, then throwing to first base to double up the runners. Blackstock Country Hardware 12 - Cummings Backhoe 8. In a well played game that could have gone either way the Country Hardware team came out victorious. Triples going to William Michel and Mike Leach. A double by Gord Bentley and singles coming from Ryan Larmer, Kyle Simms and Dustin Marnoch. A couple of RBI's scored from a great hit by Kingsley Malcolm. Outstanding catching by Dustin Marnoch, Kyle Simms and William Michel. With equally great pitching from Ryan Copithorn, Leanne Goslin and Kyle Simms. Some excellent plays in field by Scott Swain, Jason Andrews and Mike Leeming for a few quick outs. Mike Leach and Dustin Mar- noch were in fine form as they stole bases for a couple of runs home. Installations singles by Melissa Donnelly, John Love, Bradley Kyte, Geoffrey New, Danny Lyons, Derek Leeming, Janele Buller, Sean Warren and of Dennis Smith-Skip; Joyce Storry-Vice; Edna Smith-Lead, captured the Bedford Memorial Trophy, defeating teams from Aurora, Tottenham and Beeton. Uxbridge: July 15-High 2-Game Winners - Clara Martyn-Skip; Alma Cox-Vice; Harold Martyn- Lead; Oshawa: July 18 - 28 teams competed in a turnabout tourna- ment - 2nd High 2-Game Winners - Clara Martyn-Skip; Joyce Storry-Vice; Harold Martyn- Lead. League Play - 1st Schedule has been completed. Tuesday Night Winners: Gor- don Prentice; Lillian Midgley; and Alice Spence. Wednesday Night Winners: Harry Dann, Mary Baird and Doug Healey. Play-off between Tues. and Wed. was played on Mon., July 8 with the team of Gordon Prentice, Lillian Midgley and Alice Spence being victorious after a very close, exciting match, so will be Kyle Buller. Derek Leeming doubled while Sean Warren and Melissa Donnelly both had triples. Home runs came from Kyle Buller, Danny Lyons, Sean War- ren, Derek Leeming and a grand slam by Melissa Donnelly. Outstanding catches from Jenny Lane on a pop fly in field, Sean Warren pop fly catch at second in the 7th inning (open) third out to win the game when bases were loaded. Danny Lyons as pitcher tagged a runner stealing home, Derek Leeming at second to Dan- ny Lyons at first base tagged a runner. Great pitching from Melissa Donnelly, Danny Lyons, Derek Leeming, and John Love. Catching by Geoffrey New. A great game by everyone and well played. Justin Gerrow had two home runs for Turners. Good catches by Josh Malcolm, Mike Long and Dawn Keeler. Good pitching by Mike Long, Jeremy Gerrow and Justin Gerrow. Good base runn- ing by Josh Malcolm, Jeremy Gerrow, Justin Gerrow, Tara Hobbs, Mike Long and Sarah Hobbs. Technique Drywall Tigers 23 - Don Frew & Sons 10. Excellent game for Technique Tigers with everyone pulling together in a close game right up to the fifth inning. Justin Sheehey pulled off a double with good cat- ches by Karen Swain and Mathew Rolph. David Gainey showing good form as catcher. Good bat- awn Bowling news recognized on the Geo. Stone Plaque. Jitneys: A Sundae Jitney was held Sun., June 23; 23 persons participated. One 8-end game and one 6-end game were played, bet- ween which lemonade and iced tea were served and everyone made their own sundaes. Gwenyth Thompson and Joyce Storry convened, with Joyce Stephenson, Mildred Jackson, Dorothy Follows assisting. Jackie Coulter looked after kitchen clean-up. The team of Mac Allbright, Pal Marshall and Anne Gliddon defeated Dorothy Follows, Anne Cornish and Nor- ma Wilson after a tie was broken by points scored against. A fun time was had by all. Another Sundae Jitney was held on July 7, with 14 persons taking part. Two 6-end games were played. This was convened by Kathleen and Dalton Dorrell. The winners were the team of Marta Gill and Gwenyth Thompson. Another enjoyable get-to-gether. Junior Division - July 17 London Life Lazers 17- H & M Wright Sox 14. The London Life Lazers led by Chris Pottery won their second game of the season, narrowly edging H & M Wright Sox 17 - 14 Wednesday at Caesarea. Home runs by Jason Michel, Nicholas Malcolm, Joe Knighton, and Chris Pottery sparked the Lazers of- fence and on defence the Lazers almost had their first triple play on one of two fly balls caught by Chris. Jason Michel pitched well in his rookie appearance for the Lazers, while James McGee was called in to be the 'Terminator' at the end of the game. What can I say about H & M Wright Sox, they just keep im- proving, so look out tournament day. Singles were had by Adam Johnston, Todd Pringle, Darryl Keeler and Lacy Slute. Doubles came from Clayton Steadman, Darryl Keeler and Jamie Gould. A home run carried Darryl Dean around. Pitching duties by Darryl Dean, Todd Pringle and Clayton Steadman. Some great fielding came from Darryl Keeler, Darryl Dean, Jessica McLaughlin, Susie Gerrow and Ryan Sheehey. Lishmans 12 - Swain Seed Slug- gers 6. Great defence by all nine players on Lishmans team. Singles by Ryan Woods, Brian Wonnacott, Chad Hobbs, Joey Schembri, Danny Deeth both doubled. Triples from Joey Schembri and Danny Deeth, Brian Wonnacott got a home run. Swain Seed Sluggers siglo by Luc Wilson, Stef Kingswell, Stef Sutcliffe, Joey Lane and Randy Nicolas. Rob Walters tripled. Good plays by Brad Sutcliff in right field, Christa Lane a good throw to Ryan Kindree at second, Amanda Drew in field and Cameron V. at third base. Pee Wee/Bantam girls Pee Wee Bantam girls in Greenbank on July 17th saw Country Siding girls come out on top of PPMS 'Burgundy' with a score of 12-3. Knocking out home runs for Country Siding were Jennifer Hunter and Brandy Harris. Fill- ing in on the mound was Laura Phoenix and she did a great job for her team. PPMS 'Burgundy' girls made some great catches in their effort to hold Country Siding back. Jodi Hunter made two excellent cat- ches and also did well as relief pit- cher. Kim Spicher had a couple of good catches in outfield. Good team work shown by Sarah Coyne and Charlene Criscione as they caught two runners stealing at second. At the north diamond PPMS 'Red' defeated Valu-Mart 17-12. Liz Jones' bat was connecting well sending two hard hits into the outfield. Lindsay Card did well juggling short stop and third base positions at the same time. Amy Plain took up a new position play- ing back catcher and did a super job. Her strong throwing arm is a great asset at different playing positions. - Kara Newell smashed out two home runs for Valu-Mart girls and drove in several runs for her team. Kim Rollo hit well and made three great catches. Tam- my Grant was strong at the plate and made an unassisted double play. An amazing effort by the Valu-Mart team.
