Monday, July 15th we held our monthly residents council meeting. Discussions consisted of raffle plans, yard sale info, talent auction update and suggestions for trips in August. The 16th hosted a great day. It was BBQ fun time. Our friends from Sun- nycrest Nursing Home and Port Hope Nursing Home joined us for 'a day of entertainment, great food, games and fun. A special thank you to our BBQ Chefs-- Hazel and Don Zoller. The BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers were delicious. Throughout the after- noon we were elightfully enter- tained by 'Emerald'. Midweek we headed to Nestleton for a Garden Party. Special thanks to the Pineridge Garden Club for spon- soring this trip. The residents cer- tainly enjoyed the beautiful Worship at ES il / Utica News by Vera Brown There will be no church service in Utica or Epsom this Sunday but our congregation will be worship- ing with the Goodwood congrega- tion starting at 9:30 a.m. All are invited to join with the Social Club on Sunday evening for a concert and social in Epsom Church starting at 8 p.m. Ladies please provide finger food. There were 10 tables of euchre played in Utica Hall on Friday evening with prizes going to the following: Ladies 1st Jean Pogue, 2nd Fran Gibson and 3rd Dorothy Catherwood. Men's 1st Jim Gib- son, 2nd Del Catherwood and 3rd Martin Gall. Freeze-out winners were Verna Draper and Olive Or- flowers and seeing the angora rabbits. We didn't even mind that sudden rainfall. Thursday the 18th we had Supper Club featur- ing pizza from Square Boys. Along with it we had veggies and dip and refreshments. Our week ended with a Watermelon Bash. Our party hosted 'guess the weight of the watermelon', spit- ting seed contest and how many words in Watermelon. Everyone had great fun and then ate up the jucy fruit. Birthday wishes are extended to Mr. Bill Gibson (24), Mrs. Eliza beth Campbell (26), Mr. Ralph Milner (27), Mr. George Freeman (28), Mrs. Luvina Parkin (Aug. 4) and Miss Allie Willis (9). Upcoming events are Water Olympics-2pm (24), Flea Market-10 to 4pm (26), Picnic at the Lake (Oshawa)-(31), Bake Sale (Aug. 2), Picture Day (6), Trip to Sunnycrest (9) and Fami- ly Picnic (11). Please join us. We'd love to have your company. Goodwood miston, Doris Hill & Jean Pogue were second. Lucky draws were won by Doris evans, Jim Gibson and Lloyd Greig. The 50/50 draw was won by Martin Gall. There will be another euchre in two weeks. Dave and Jane Tracey and sons Richard and Russell spent the weekend in Syracuse, N.Y. visiting with Jane's parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Archibald. Visiting with Irene Fielding on Saturday were Rhonda Hutton and children of Whitby. Mr. and Mrs. John Vanderheyden of Oshawa visited with Mrs. Crosier on Sunday evening. The CKFT0 crew were in the village last week when they featured Pete and Georgina Sutgliffe) on their Heart Beat.
