Happy Birthday Diane Frew, Nestleton, Children and the environment Today children are addressing their concerns about the changing world. Everywhere people are talking about being environmen- tally friendly...well the Township of Scugog has the solution. Why not send your child to En- vironmental Awareness Camp for children 6-12 years on August 6-9, 1991 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Well trained staff will help guide campers through a program which concentrates on the en- vironment and its changes. Games, crafts, activities and special experiments will make up the core of this program. Staff will address issues like: the greenhouse effects, the holes in the ozone, acid rain, distruction of the rain forests and the en- dangered wild life. This program will help children understand the serious environmental issues they hear so much about and gives them an understanding of what they can do to help change these problems. This program is subject to suf- ficient registration. If you would like to register your child drop by the Township of Scugog Municipal Office on North St., or call 985-7346. Family Reunion A delightful family reunion was held on Sunday, July 28, 1991 when the Cawker clan met for their annual reunion, held at Bird- seye Centre Park in Port Perry, with 44 members present. The weather was ideal, and with plea- sant surroundings, "a gem of a place" for an afternoon get-to- gether. After warm greetings and the book was signed, a wonderful Centre time of visiting and reminiscing was an enjoyable feature of the reunion! Around about 5:30 p.m., we sat down to a bountiful meal with a great variety of succulent dishes, well cooked and seasoned to perfection, provided by the ter- rific cooks! Desserts were temp- ting, and all feasted on the lovely tasty pies, cakes, fruits, jellies, and so forth, topped off with tea, coffee and cold drinks. Members were present from Kitchener, Oshawa, Bowman- ville, Courtice, Haliburton, Lind- say, Bobcaygeon, Peterborough, Scugog Island, Port Perry, Man- chester, Nestleton and other points. Our sincere thanks to the com- mittee in charge, Alan and Eleanor Cawker and Grant and Merna Cawker of Oshawa, who planned the party superbly. We also thank Steve Bull for looking after the tables once again - a pat on the back to Steve! Sympathy Extended Our sympathy goes out to the Hastings family in the loss of a devoted husband, father, grand- father and brother - the late Frank Hastings of Port Perry, after a lengthy illness. Frank was well known in Port Perry circles and liked by all who knew him. He was very fond of children, taking great pleasure in talking and having fun with them.
