The second inning opened like the first with three quick runs. Kinsmen's Andrew Mitchell, Seth Grey and Kevin Duncan scored before some fine defensive play by Chris Orr got the third out leaving three Kinsmen on base. Colin Laird found the groove in the bottom of the second retiring the Anderson batters in order. Tim White and Colin scored in the top of the third but the attack stalled and the Kinsmen had to take the field after three quick outs. Justin Kowalczyk and Jesse Thorne scored again for Ander- sons but some fine defense by Adam Murphy and Nick Kutlik with two force outs at second and a diving catch by Kevin Duncan cut short Andersons drive. The Kinsmen went down in rapid suc- cession in the fourth but Ander- sons also had some hard luck at the plate and suffered three quick outs to end the game. Port Perry Figure Skating Club ready for new season by Susan Scholfield Registration for the 1991/92 Figure Skating season begins Tuesday, August 27, 1991 at Scugog Memorial Arena; Board Room, 6-8 p.m. This year's skating season looks like it will be our best yet, accor- ding to the Port Perry Figure Skating Club President, Susan 'Scholfield. 'We have more ice time set aside for our CanSkate program, with options for both full and par- tial memberships available" said Scholfield. "Our team of coaches are professionals with credentials in freeskate, power skating, dance and figures. They include Donna Newbold, Mike Sanderson, Hilary Simpson, Celia Sanford, Pam Richards (nee Watson) and Valerie Tunstall-Yamada. Our club coaches look forward to giving everyone in the area a chance to enjoy skating at our club, whether they are up and coming hockey players, ringette or figure skaters. The CanSkate program is sanc- tioned by The Canadian Figure Skating Association as a learn-to- skate program for beginners of all ages. You will learn all the basic skating skills in small group ses- sions taught by our professional coaches. With the introduction of our partial CanSkate membership, skaters will be skating on Tues- day evenings from 5 - 6 p.m. for a minimal cost of $131 for our September to April season. We are hoping the introduction of this new once a week skating program will allow all children to participate. Those skaters who wish to skate twice a week are invited to register for the full CanSkate membership, skating on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 4 -5 p.m. Cost for the full CanSkate membership is $205 for the 1991/92 season. All badge levels from Beginner to Proficiency are in- cluded in both programs. Scholfield says she expects these new program options and fees will increase the club's membership. 'We should see an increase in members because we are appealing to a wider range of people." - Past members have already received membership forms in the mail. Registration night is Tuesday, August 27 and the skating season begins Monday, September 9, 1991. For more in- formation call P.P.F.S.C. Presi- dent Susan Scholfield at 985-3031.
