He is deaf, has six toes on each front foot and is affectionate. There are also other cats, kittens and dogs of all colors, shapes and sizes who would love to be adopted! If you wish to provide a home for one of these animals, call the Scu- gog/Uxbridge Animal Control Centre at 985-9547. Staff Sergeant Bill VanDole- weerd said although the storm was quite heavy, there was "nothing too serious ta report." The Township of Scugog Fire Department was kept busy throughout the night, respond- ing to a number of calls. Most were for downed hydro wires caused by falling trees. A section of Port Perry was without power for more than an hour. According to David Har- ris, a linesman, the area that was affected was in the vicinity of Queen Street and Simcoe Street, west down to the junc- tion of Highway 7A, out to the substation, as well as Old Sim- coe Road. The hospital was af- fected but it operates on a back- up generator. The Township of Scugog Works Department spent much of Friday cleaning up from the aftermath of the storm, clear- ing away a number of trees and branches brought down by the high winds. The high winds caused prop- erty damage as well. Rita Roadley, from Westshore Mari- na, said a number of boats were damaged during the storm. Most sustained damage to the vinyl tops. But he sees the garbage issue on a much wider scope. "This is not just a Scugog problem, it's a Canadian problem." Mr. Hill believes he would make a good councillor, be- cause he realizes the impor- tance of listening to both sides in an argument, and investigat- ing all sides of anissue. He also knows the commit- ment that it takes to serve on municipal council and he is pre- pared to offer his time. "I'm interested, I like people, I'm not afraid to talk and I'm not afraid to listen," he said. "I know the importance of the council meetings is so great that I'm going to be at every council meeting I possibly can." I, EMMERSON INSURANCE BROKERS LIMITED 193 QUEEN ST., PORT PERRY, ONT.
