Scugog Island by Glenda Raniere Summer is quickly drawing to an end...sad but true. On the other hand, many organizations are preparing their agendas for the fall. Second Scugog Beavers and Cubs would like to take this time to let you know what is happening with us. Registration for both groups will be on Thursday, Sept. 12/91 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Island Hall. If you have a uniform that your son no longer uses, bring it on registration night and we may be able to find it a new home. We're pleased to inform you that as of Sept. 1992, Scouts will once again be meeting on Scugog Island, but more on that later as the year unfolds. 1990-91 saw the boys participate in a wide variety of activities beginning with Apple Day, Winter Fun Day, Cub Car Rally, The Beaveree and Cuboree, Cub cam- ping at Samac and Trees for Canada, etc., etc. ending with the BBQ Banquet in May. It was a great turnout by all the boys and their families, thanks for making it such a success. Our leaders have included these events on this year's agenda as well as a few new ones for the boys enjoyment. As sponsors for both Beavers and Cubs we would like to acknowledge the Scugog Island United Church and thank them for their continuing support. Our thanks as well to the many in- dividuals and businesses on the Island and in town who so generously contribute to our group whenever we are in need. Your generosity is overwhelming. We are pleased that Anne Allen, Kim Currie and Jackie Mills are returning as Beaver Leaders and Brad Allen and David Wood will continue as Cub Leaders. We should all thank these individuals for the commitment they're mak- ing to your children and our community. The Executive Committee Election Meeting will be Thurs- day, Sept. 26/91 starting at 7:30 p.m. Why not come out and join us? You may be interested in an elected position or just want to volunteer on a one-time basis. No matter what you choose you'll be rewarded by the good feeling you get by helping the boys. If we all pitch in and do a little, no one per- son is left doing a lot. Finally, we will once again hold our "'Island Famous' New Year's Dance. Tickets go fast for this one, so watch for our ads in- November. EMMERSON INSURANCE BROKERS LIMITED 193 QUEEN ST., PORT PERRY, ONT.
