Congratulations to five of our 1st Greenbank Pathfinders who spent two nights in sweltering heat at Balsam Lake Provincial Park in order to pass their Gold Camp Emblem. The girls involv- ed were Amanda Powell, Joanna Shepherd, Barbie Phayre, Bonnie Edwards, and Meredith Bagshaw. For most of them, it was the last leg in achieving their Canada Cord. Leaders Marie Powell and Charlene Shepherd sat back and enjoyed watching these girls, plan, organize and and lead the entire camp of 20 girls. They did a terrific job in spite of racoons stealing some of their food. Well done girls!! Thank you to our District Commissioner, Sylvia Oldenzeil for doing the testing. Registration for Pathfinders (ages 12-15), Guides (9-11) and Brownies (6-8) will be held Tues- day, Sept. 10 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Greenbank Hall. All girls are welcome. Registration fee is $22. Congratulations to John Leask on his success at the National Belgian Horse Show at the Toron- to National Exhibition. He won two firsts; two seconds and for the Junior Reserve Grand Champion Mare. "The Rest Corner" in the Christie Building at the fair was a huge success. This was a joint effort of the seven branches of Women's Institute of the Ontario South District. It was most attrac- tive with a huge banner obtained for Guelph Dept. of Agriculture, depicting our need for trees in our environment. We served many huridreds of cups of coffee with a huge homemade cookie. Thanks to every branch for their delicious cookies. One lady named it the "Happy Corner" at Port Perry Fair. Congratulations to our own "Port Perry Fair Board." It was a perfect three days. This Friday, Sept. 6 will be the , next euchre party held in Green- bank Hall. Please phone me with your news next week at 985-2944. We extend our heartfelt sym- pathy to the Stone family on the death of their sister Jean.
