The clinic was hosted by Fi- delity Lodge 428 AF&A at the Masonic Lodge in Port Perry. "We have to thank the com- munity," said Don Bower, sen- ior warden and chairman of the blood donor committee. "The turn out was just su- perb." In total, 182 people attended the clinic and 178 units of blood were collected. "Red Cross collected more units than ever before from Port Perry and its surrounding area," Mr. Bower said. Normally 10 per cent of those in attendance are ineligible to give blood. Mr. Bower said he was amazed that only four peo- ple were turned away. The number of units collected surpassed everyone's expecta- tions. Mr. Bower hoped 150 units would be collected, while officials at the Red Cross had a goal of 100 units. "It went remarkably well," Ms. Greczylo said. "We're thrilled with the response." She gave credit to the Mason- ic Lodge for the wonderful job they did in organizing the event. "They recruited all the volun- teers and they did an outstand- ing job," Ms. Greczylo said. Twenty volunteers signed up to help out at the clinic, Mr. Bower said. "Each and every one of them were completely invaluable. 1 Just can't say enough great things about them," he said.
