Thanksgiving News Marion Hall, Wms Point, hosted Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday for her family; son Bill (wife Loraine had to work) and boys Christopher and Michael of Ajax, and son Robert and Carolyn Hall, Rachael and Re- becca of Castle Harbour Heights, Port Perry. A beauti- ful meal and a wonderful visit before returning home. Roy and Doris Nottingham, Caesarea, son Gary and Mar- git Nottingham, Raglan, had a . lovely Thanksgiving celebra- tion at son Paul and Beth Not- tingham's on Sunday at Sun- derland. On Saturday evening, Roy and Doris had a festive Thanksgiving dinner at. Greg. and Nancy Nottingham Reid's home at Seagrave. Lawrence and Gwen Mal- colm, Nestleton, hosted their family for Thanksgiving din- ner on Sunday, with 26 family members present. Several birthdays were celebrated. Son Barry of Simcoe was a Friday overnight guest following a To- ronto seminar. Edgar and Anne Emerson, Nestleton, had 30 present for a festive Thanksgiving celebra- tion. One family -- friends of Edgar and Anne -- have been coming for 33 years. A very special get-together! Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Pt. Rd., enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner hosted by .Alan and Eleanor Cawker, Oshawa, on Sunday evening. Nestleton WI Meets The October meeting of Nes- tleton Women's Institute was held at the lovely home of Dor- is Nottingham, Caesarea, on Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. Rika Wygerde, president, opened with the Ode and Col- lect, and welcomed the mem- bers and one visitor. A poem was read, "God's Reason." Sec- retary-Treasurer Neta Fish read the minutes of the Sep- tember meeting and gave the financial report. Members are busy selling copies of the "Friendly House- hold Hints" book. Curator Gwen Malcolm reported that the microfilm of the Tweed- smuir Histories are to be pre- sented to the Scugog Shores Museum on a permanent loan basis. A cheque was sent to the Port Perry Nursing Home Dream-Fund to help with ex- penses of their trip next spring. Dis. Director Gwen reported re: the Executive meeting held _at-the home of the Dis. Presi- dent Mrs. Cathcart's home, Kendal, when plans were made for the Fun Fair on Oct. 24 at Hampton United Church Hall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Members will make donations to bake ta- ble, country store, draw and tea room, and Nestleton's part of the program was planned. Many letters were read; from Farm Women's Confer- ence in London, Royal Winter Fair Women's Day, Adult Course -- "Decor-Accent" -- in Lindsay, and Dis. A demon- stration of weaving was given by Rika and a contest was won by Doris Nottingham and Gla- dys King. President Rika will be the delegate to the fall convention, Nov. 13 and 14 at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Meeting closed and lunch was served by Doris, Winnifred and Neta. A decorated cake marking Nestleton Women's Institute 1906-1991, part of the 85th year's celebration, was enjoyed, courtesy of Win- nifred. Gladys King ably ex- pressed the appreciation to the hostess and those who had a part. Community Church On Sunday, Oct. 13, 11 a.m. the service at the Community Church was well attended. It was conducted by Rev. W.H. Crawford, who preached on a Thanksgiving theme, entitled "The Great Provider", text tak- en from 1Kings 1: 13. Kathy Watts was at the or- gan. Services- will continue each Sunday at 11 a.m. Nestleton Presbyterian Rev. Wm Fairley conducted the 11 a.m. service with Joyce Taylor the organist on Thanks- giving Sunday. Responsive reading was Psalm 90. The children's story was from Eze- kiel, stressing that God is eve- rywhere. Scripture lessons were Gene- sis 3: 8-19 and St. Mark 10: 17- 30. Rev. Fairley's Thanksgiv- ing message recommended that we should give thanks -- not only for material things, but also that we have been giv- en courage and faith to live through our sorrows and prob- lems! Nestleton United Church On Thanksgiving Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m., an excellent congregation was on hand for this special day, with many visitors present. Ralph Sadler was the friendly greeter at the door. The church was attrac- tively decorated in keeping with the season. Rev. Dale Davis conducted the service presenting a stron message re: "Rejoicing in Har Times" with scripture from Joel 2: 21-27 and Matthew 6: 25-33, read by Jennifer Ar- buckle. Then, as part of the sermon on "Sharing", several members presented a drama which illustrated the sermon well! The Junior Choir sang two numbers -- led by Joanna Mal- colm and accompanied by Ka- tie Mairs on her keyboard. The regular choir sang "My Trib- ute" by Andrae Crouch, with Gwen Malcolm at the organ. The choir presented Gwen with a beautiful sheaf of flow- ers, as this was her last official Sunday as organist! The offering was gathered by Art Weir and Arn Williams and the service closed with Benediction and Three-Fold Amen. Nestleton Anniversary will be held Oct. 27 with Rev. John Hill the guest speaker. Special music has been planned!
