Coach Peter Chris- tie and his assistant Jamie Menzies have once again as- sembled what appears to be another All-Ontario bound team. Our first game saw us at home to host the Oshawa Ca- nadian Tire Red Wings. Oshawa got out to a quick start, scoring two first-period goals. Port Perry's Larry Nick- erson answered back late in the first period with a goal as- sisted by Jon Jamieson and Billy Zaparanuik. Oshawa scored once again in the first period. The third peri- od saw both teams score two goals apiece, Port Perry's goals by Jason Vader and Brent Harper. Both goals were unas- sisted. The final score of the game Executive elected for the 1992 Scugog Youth Soccer Club season Another banner year for youth soccer in the Port Perry area was capped off with the annual general meeting of the Scugog Youth Soccer Associa- tion on Oct. 9 at R. H. Cornish Public School. This year 404 players from the Scugog region participated in weekly games, which provid- ed both fun and excellent train- ing in soccer, the most popular sport in the world. PPHS sports results On Oct. 7 the Port Perry High School girls basketball teams (midget, junior, senior) made a clean sweep by winning all three of their games at Perey- ma High School. On Oct. 8 in girls field hockey action at Donevan the girls played well defeating both Donevan and Anderson by a 1-0 score in both games. The boys junior and senior soccer teams were defeated by Austin. Contributing to the success of the 1991 season was a large, enthusiastic group of volun- teers who assisted in all as- pects of the organization, which extended to helping run registration and the canteen to coaching, refereeing and tele- phone work. Bob Murphy, im- mediate past president, in his out-going statement, ex- pressed a vote of thanks to eve- ryone who helped to make the season work. The next meeting of the soc- cer club will take place on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. All interested people are invited to attend. was 5-3, in favor of the Oshawa Red Wings. Our second game took us to the motor city for a rematch with the Oshawa Red Wings. The Port Perry team was up for the challenge, scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Brett Lawson scored and Greg Thompson got the assist for the first goal. The second goal by the Bantam Bs saw Jeff Jamieson slide one by the Oshawa net-minder with a sparkling assist from Daryl Bourgeois. 'The Red Wings came back with four straight goals in the third period. With three min- utes left in the third, Port Perry's Jon Jamieson scored an unassisted goal. Eighteen seconds later Brent Harper fed a rink-wide pass to Kenton Le- Fort, who took off on a break- away. With one quick move to the right Kenton beat the Oshawa goalie. The final score was 4-4. Port Perry had its penalty problems, serving a total of 18 minutes. The Bantam Bs regular sea- son play commenced on Oct. 9 on home ice against Omeemee. This game was not one of our better efforts, finding us at the short end of a 3-0 score. Penal- ties dominated the game with each team taking over 20 min- utes apiece. Port Perry did, however, re- ceive a quality performance from net-minder Kyle Simms. Relast Of We RAHI, / Our second league game showed a vast improvement. A substantially lower amount of penalty minutes and good passing led our team to a 7-2 victory over Millbrook. Kenton Lefort opened the scoring in the first period with a goal assisted by Daryl Bour- geois. Late in the first period, Kent Lefort once again found the mark, assisted by Devin Blair and Jon Jamieson. Millbrook scored in the sec- ond period, but Port Perry quickly responded with three straight. Jon Jamieson scored to start the rally off, assisted by Clay Scott and Brett Law- son. Larry Nickerson was as- sisted by Greg Thompson. Brent Harper scored an un- assisted goal before Millbrook found the mark. Kenton Le- Fort rounded up the Port scor- ing with his third goal of the night to give Port Perry the 7-2 victory.
