Port Perry 985-3874 ETE RE Py | The Operation Scugog Thanksgiving food drive was the most successful the bank has # : ever had. Prior to the drive the bank's cupboards were very low but the drive has stocked the cupboards with enough food to carry it over until the next drive at Christmas. Latest food drive best ever Operation Scugog volunteers want to extend a big thank you to Scugog residents who made the Thanksgiving Food Drive the most successful drive the food bank has ever had. Non-perishable food items of all kinds poured into the Port Perry Fire Department during the bank's "Let's Give Thanks By Sharing" food drive held over the holiday weekend. The bank also received large numbers of potatoes, apples, squash, cabbage and turnips. The Port Perry IGA also made several trips to the bank in the two days with countless boxes that were filled at the grocery store. The food bank shelves are full to overflowing thanks to the residents of Scugog Town- ship. The freezer at the bank is also full for the first time in a long time thanks to donations of frozen baked goods from the Joa and Nestleton Country tore. Operation Scugog volunteers Doris and Roy Grierson esti- mated the drive brought in at least 250 boxes of food to the bank. The last drive at Easter was not very successful leaving the bank's shelves empty as Thanksgiving arrived. The amount of food the Thanksgiving drive brought in will certainly hold the bank over until Operation Scugog's next drive at Christmas, Mrs. Grierson told the Star.
