Pineridge Atom Bs' season underway The Pineridge Sports Atom "B" boys have begun what ap- pears to be a promising season of hockey. Without any exhibition games under their belts, coaches Chambers and Moynes didn't know what to expect from the boys, but they were pleasantly surprised with the results. Ports first league game was at home against a very skilled Pickering team. With the play back and forth it was only a matter of time before a goal was scored with Port notching one on a rebound shot. Port hung on to the lead until the third period when two quick goals were scored by Pickering to win the game. Scoring the only goal for Port was Nick Pelyk, assisted by Adam Hobbs. Their next match-up was with Uxbridge for an exibition game. As the Pineridge boys became more comfortable with positions and linemates, things began to happen. Once again, Port took the lead in the first period display- ing their talents up and down the ice. Before the game was over, Port lit up the score- board six times, allowing only one goal against due to solid goaltending and strong de- fense action from defencemen Ryan Moynes, Adam Brain, Aaron Chambers and Glen McCready. Scoring for Port in this game was Ryan McQuade with three goals, Danny Lyons one goal, one assist, Ryan Moynes two assists, Ian Par- liament one goal, Dave Gai- ney, Adam Brain and Greg Bruton one assist each. Port then headed south and met up with Oshawa's Little NHL Minor Bruins for exhibi- tion. The fans were treated to plenty of see-saw action as - both teams were fairly evenly matched. Port was again first to find the net, fell behind in the second period, only to come back in the third period to tie it up. The game re- mained at a stalemate as both teams applied pressure until the final buzzer. Shane Savage and Jon Chambers were quite visible as they performed extremely well in net as they were put to the test many times through- out the game. Scoring for Port was Dave gainey one goal, one assist, Danny Lyons one goal and Ian Parliament one assist. Port will be heading south again for further exhibition play during the week and will finish up the week with a league game Friday night at 8 p.m. in Port.
