She ga we Ice officially out April 15, 2008 In Scugog Township, spring never officially arrives until the last remnants of ice disappear in the cold waters of Lake Scugog. And that annual ritual happened this year during a warm afternoon in mid-April. In the days leading up to Scugog’s official first day of spring, the photos on this page were snapped at various locations around the lake. Above, a panoramic view of Port Perry from north of town near dusk, shows the lights of town reflecting on the water beyond a small band of ice. Most obvious of the landmarks vis- ible is the new condominium project on Perry St., which can be seen at the far right. Other photos on this page show the ice at various stages during its final days on the lake. So, the official “ice out” date is April 15, 2008, eleven days later than last year and 14 days ear- lier than the latest date ever recorded.
