It just goes to show that ersistence sometimes pays off, especially if you think you're being treated unfairly. In this case Paul was bang on! Thumbs Down - to the Municipal Property Assessment Corp., better known as MPAC, for their apparent lack of inter- © est in dealing with concems of taxpayers. On a personal note, after “fighting” for almost three years to get a legiti- mate reduction in assessment we're still awaiting their verdict. It's amazing how efficient MPAC staff can be when it comes to increasing assessments, yet they appear to drag their feet in the hope taxpayers will go away, when asked for justifiable reduc- tions. Frustrating... very, very frustrating! Thumbs Up for the great idea initiated during Waste Reduction Week. Billed as the “Scugog Treasure Hunt” residents a across the township were encouraged to place unwanted goods at the end of their driveways which could be picked up free of charge by anyone needing or wanting items being discarded. We'd love to see this idea expanded on a permanent basis, with a central location where good usable merchandise could be dropped off and recycled by the public year ‘round. Thumbs Down - to individuals who cycle, walk or jog along the sides of roads and streets after dark without proper reflec- Dive gear. While we commend them for the dedication to exercise, their actions create a danger not only for them- selves but also for unsuspecting drivers who are often forced to swerve to avoid an accident. Reflective arm bands, vests and lights are inexpensive and could save lives. Thumbs Up - to John McClelland for being named to the Scu- gog Sports Wall of Fame. What a great and well deserved re honour. Having worked along side John for almost two decades many years ago, it's gratifying to see him re- warded for the countless hours he spent at the arena reporting the results of Mojack hockey games. At the risk of alienating the other very worthy inductees, we would like to extend to him our sincere congratulations. Thumbs Up to Don and Stella Asling, who celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last month. The couple have lived 3 in their Epsom area family home since they were married - the same home in which Don was born 89 years ago. Congratulations Don and Stella on this remarkable milestone!
