Nothing quite warms the heart like sunbeams reaching out of a brilliant blue October sky to kiss you on the cheek... or to watch as leaves float gently to the ground, only to form a blanket of reds, oranges and yellows on a backdrop of green grass. Yes, there’s nothing quite like a warm October day and this picture of the Scugog Township office, taken last month, is a final reminder before winter arrives. Photo by J. Peter Hvidsten Ole man winter comes a knocking Scugog was visited by ‘Ole Man Winter’ a little earlier than expected this year, blowing through the township on Tuesday, October 21 with a sprinkling of cold, wet snow. The arrival was not welcomed by most, who found them- selves bundling up and scurrying along streets. One year ago, the same date, we were basking in sunny 25C temperatures. Thankfully, warmer weather and sunny skies did follow in the days after this year’s first snow, but you can be sure winter is not far behind, like it or not. Yuk!
