It’s hard to believe we're slipping into the fifth month of the year already and thankfully a feeling of optimism is in the air... no doubt spurred on by much improved weather and an economy that is limping forward. It's amazing how the sun beating down on your face can make you feel so much better, isn’t it? So here we go again, bringing our readers up-to-date on what's happening with the business community around town and the township. For starters, we hear that The Kids Cupboard, located at 239 Queen St. will be moving into the larger, eastern section of their building. The space they will be taking up residence in, at 241 Queen St. has been occupied by Henshall’s Clothing store for the past 17 years. Pam Henshall is retiring from the business that she’s nurtured for all these years. Her smiling face and greeting will be missed along the main drag. It appears that Community Care Durham-Scugog will be moving from their current location in the basement of the municipal office the end of May. Community Care moves out of the downtown to larger quarters at 16100 Old Simcoe Road, Port Perry, formerly occupied by Penny & Associates. Scugog Island Cruises has opened newly renovated of- fices at 168 Water Street, in Port Perry. The Woodman cruise ship will continue to be docked along the town pier, at the foot of Queen Street. At the western end of town, Scugog Equipment Rentals made a move recently from their former Reach Rd./North Port Rd. location to 27 Easy St., just off the 6th Conc. Scugog Equipment Rentals has been servicing the area for 20 years, providing rentals for construction and personal use. It’s unfortunate to see Port Perry’s only motel location has been lost. The former Railroad House Motor Hotel, which has been closed for some time now, was torn down last Railroad House Motor Hotel being torn down April 2009 month to make way for a new Shopper's Drug Mart. The hotel cost $350,000 to build and was officially opened on August 7, 1975 at this convenient 7A Hwy. location. i PANX@ BY SARA BLAKELY® he S 0 as seen on OPpraH Look slimmer Smooth tummy control No leg band —no bulge NSS BR@CRS 168-178 Queen Street, Port Perry 905-985-2521 ¢ www.brocks.ca BRAND NEW CHARMS!
