Fifty seven Port Perry High School students were honoured for their hard work and dedication in pre- serving our cultural heritage. The Lieutenant Governor presented the awards at a Queen’s Park ceremony in the presence of the Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander, Chairman of the Ontario Heritage Trust. “Bach year, many communities and volunteers help to preserve Ontario’s heritage,” said Mr. Alexander. Port Perry High School’s “Think Indigenous Expo” students are a remarkable group that is very diverse and includes students from our Native Studies, Special Education, Culinary Arts and French Immersion programs. They worked together to showcase the culture of Indigenous peoples from around the country. The project was the brainchild of student teacher Dawn White, Trent University with the support of associate teach- ers Nancy Hamer Strahl, Harold Williams, Culinary Arts teacher Mike Aldred, Education Manager of The Mississau- gas of Scugog First Nations, Art Beaver and Jan Bate Port Perry High School's principal.
