im, auction for the birds The Durham Children’s Aid Foundation Bird House Auction is on again for the second year in a row! The event showcases local artists who flock together in order to create one-of-a-kind birdhouses. The birdhouses are built by local craftsman Ron Marsh and will be creatively painted by more than 15 talented artists. Each unique house will be displayed from May 2 to 8 at Meta4 Gallery (200 Queen Street, Port Perry). Town Hall 1873 will host a ‘Meet the Artist’ event during the last hours of bidding on Saturday, May 8 from 3 to 5 This year’s event also boasts a celebrity component. Cathy Jones, from CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes will be contributing a birdhouse to the event. Everyone is looking forward to seeing what creative designs will spring from Cathy and the other artists who have created them. Organized by DCAF Trustee and Prince Albert resident, Laura Francis, the event was started to provide a creative opportunity to raise much needed funds for an incredible cause. “The birdhouses are each a spectacular achievement and even if you have no intention of bidding on one, they are still all well worth experiencing. They are a reminder of the power of the creative spirit and how helping those most in need can be ...inspiring,” she says. The Foundation is committed to bringing people and financial resources together to improve the quality of life for children and youth in the Durham region and to help them reach their full potential.
