Mail Dear Focus... Set sail for a ‘Midweevil Feast’ Dear Editor The Scugog Lake Stewards would like the public to join them and enjoy a ‘Midweevil Feast’ aboard the Woodman on the evening of Thursday, June 24. Cruise, enjoy a gourmet dinner and light jazz presented by Lynn McDonald as well as a silent auction all in support of continued research on the Milfoil Weevil as a suitable bio- control in Lake Scugog and the Kawartha lakes beyond. Implanting large numbers of native Milfoil weevils have proven to be extremely effective and problem-free in the reduction of the nasty, invasive aquatic plant Eurasian water milfoil in the U.S. — but little research has been done here in Canada. The Stewards will be using funds raised from the ‘Mid- weevil Feast’ to carry out the follow- cup research to their weevil i ion project last year to det ow well the weevils over-wintered and whether they continue to spread and be effective within the site as compared to the control site. Silent auction offerings will, in many cases, be one of a kind items or opportunities closely connected to our lo- cal environment and the interesting specialists who live around it. Don’t miss it! To obtain your tickets or contribute a silent auction item towards the Stewards’ continuing lake research call Carolyn Hall at 905-985-7718 or e-mail her at robcarhall@ hotmail.ca. If you want to find out more about the water milfoil weevil project or join the Scugog Lake Stewards call Jamie Ross at (905) 985-0555 or jlross@sympatico.ca or check out www.scugoglakestewards.com on the internet. Carolyn Hall Scugog Lake Stewards Inc. Thanks to a very honest person! Dear Editor I would just like to send a ‘thumbs up’ out to who- ever returned my brushes that I left in the shopping cart at Canadian Tire last Thursday during their re-opening sale of the store. Also the staff at the store for keeping a record of it written in a book of some sort so when I phoned they knew all about them. Again I would like to thank the honest person who took it back to the store and the store for keeping a record of it so I could get my paint brushes back. Bob Spence Port Perry Getting engaged?
